Maybe DS4Dummies will do you....So sad that he was responding to a thread in which you are now the only living survivor who was one of the original participants.

i was taught that it evolved from the times before the Internet when the communication was in written form. this being said it is simply what my M'Lady has me do to identify that i am speaking to both  Top/bottom Master/slave . since it harms none but pleases my M'Lady i do it. if this request of my M'Lady has not met you well i am sorry but i will do it till my M'Lady says otherwise. i do not know all the "rules" but i follow what my M'Lady says as that pleases me

In complete honestly, I've only done it since coming to this website.  We are new to this "lifestyle" and just thought it was an internet abbreviation...like lol, or wtf.  I think I only ever use it with D/s or M/s.  Don't care if other doms think it's rude...they're not my problem.  I'm important enough to be capitalized.  Being sub doesn't make that go away.  I think, with this information, I'm going to stop using it.  It takes, what, 1/10th of a second to type dom/sub or master/slave?  As usual, thanks for the valuable information.

But your post is readable, meaning you did it "wrong."  You should have written, for example, "has not met Y/you well" to be properly slashy.  My hope is that the syntax you used in your post is 100% what LP wants.  Otherwise, well, bleah.

I *almost* never use caps to signify a Dom, or lowercase for the submissive...

However, as you see in my sentence above, I *did* just what I was saying, I don't usually do...

Why?....

My point is, look through out the entire board, almost everyone capitalizes the "D" in dom, while the "s" on the word sub/slave remains lowercase...

1 It's just a letter
2. There are some who do it, and others that don't, goes back to the old saying of  "what one's kink is, may not be another's"...

Btw, the only time I've used Y/you A/all U/s specifically, was when I was talking to everyone as a collective...
To show all were included, I used the caps to signify the group was being spoken to as O/one...
Lastly, using caps to separate one from another does not show their lack of intelligence, perhaps it shows they are a bit new to the lifestyle and *want* to fit in.
This doesn't belittle their intelligence in any way...

It's easiest to just accept it, and move on.

Funny guy, Red.  Real funny.

Thankfully, as we all know, LP has a sense of humor.

I was actually being serious.  It's hard to tell sometimes, I know.  I can understand requiring "i" and "my Lady".  But do you want clip to write "Hey Y/you!" ??  That's where it gets aggravating to M/me.  (I used "M/me" because I'm not a true Dom.)

You don't have to answer me, but I think he could use clarification, because he represented himself as typing in slash-speak and he didn't do it full-on.

Point taken and understood.  In fact, I don't require that, unless it is specifically related to he and I.  It goes along the lines of him being instructed to recognize the dynamic, and the role each plays.  While he's taught that different people look at the lifestyle differently, and many have different ways of doing things, I have a set preference.

Having said that, he also understands that other people have set preferences as well.  The above comment about third person speak is actually a good example.  It's not something I require, but I understand that some M/s people use it, enjoy it, and make it part of their writing style.  Who am I to tell them that they shouldn't use it to express themselves?

Wouldn't it be nice if more people felt this way and could celebrate (or at least, tolerate) our differences and our individuality, rather than wanting everyone to conform to one standard?
