Tired of men telling them what to do some women embrace feminism and then they are now the ones telling all women what to do, how they should behave. And apparantly freedom means you have to sleep with everything that moves. i find it amusing. I knew there was a reason i always like the book animal farm.

Once again.. I do not recognize this form of feminism.  I might add that I think you've bought into a lot of propaganda about feminism and feminists.... if you really want to know what feminists and I mean contemporary feminists think... start actually listening to them, not their detractors.

Precisely.

If you want females and males to have the same rights and freedom and protection, and if you'd like those to include the right to self-determination, freedom of sexual expression and choice, and freedom from limitation based purely on gender - then, allow me to be the first to tell you, and you may not want to hear it, but...
you are a feminist.

...As for sleeping with everything that moves, are the people who are telling women they "have to," the same ones who're telling men that?  'Cause I was wondering where that pressure was coming from

Seriously, though, what would be cool, is if, when a woman has a good time sexually, she were to get the same kind of congratulation and admiration that a man generally does, for being so successful, sexually.  That is, as opposed to being everything from devalued and disrespected, to stoned in the town square, figuratively, or in some parts of the world, literally.  Yeah, that Madonna-whore thing - not so good for us.

Like a number of women on here.... I don't think it's something that needs to be reconciled.

For one thing, D/s isn't about heteronormative gender roles or whatever is the issue here - look at how many men want to be dominated by a woman, not to mention women that want to be dominated by other women or men by other men. It's not just about women obeying men.

Though I do wonder if the seemingly relatively small number of Dommes has something to do with our society's ideas about gender and sexuality and relationships. If it was considered more normal for women to be aggressive sexually and to be the breadwinner in the family and the dominant (in a non-D/s way) figure in a heterosexual relationship, would there be more Dommes? My gut says yes.

And for a sub, by choosing to submit to someone, they're embracing their own individual sexuality and desires and lifestyle choice - which is something modern feminism is big on. If someone said that it was a woman's (or men's, for that matter) place to submit, that'd be an entirely different story, and I'd give them an earful at the very least.

But I also think that feminism in BDSM means that women - subs or Dommes or switches - must be respected as people and individuals with their own needs and desires and personalities. Abuse will not be tolerated, and we're not just sex objects to submit or be submitted to.

This is a pretty common question/topic.

What part of having your desires and fantasies fulfilled in the manner you desire isn't feminist in nature?  You're a woman, and entitled to enjoy your body, heart, mind, and soul in any way you choose to.  Feminism in the most important sense, means you have the opportunity to live as you wish, and enjoy your life in the manner you see fit; not some militant lesbian who hates her father, nor some misogynistic dickwad with little man syndrome.

There's honestly nothing to reconcile; so long as you support a woman's right to choose to be however submissive, dominant, vanilla, or kinky as she wishes, you're well within the broad scope of 'feminist.'

Exactly what I'd intended to say, so just "+1".

Awww thank you, RP! :)

The irony of feminism, though, is that it's only valuble coming from a woman..... right?
