If someone were to say that they felt numb, or dead to everything, not meaning physically numb, but in feeling, how would you describe what they are feeling, and how would you suggest a remedy ?

Clinically depressed.
My first suggestion would be to volunteer someplace where you can help others. Doesn't really matter what. Just make a difference in someone else's life. You'll be surprised what a difference it makes in yours.
Also get plenty of exercise, and keep to a very regular schedule.

Feelings, nothing more than feelings,
Trying to forget my feelings of love.
Teardrops rolling down on my face,
Trying to forget my feelings of love.

Feelings, for all my life I'll feel it.
I wish I've never met you, girl;
You'll Never Come Again.

Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
Wo-o-o, feel you again in my arms.

Feelings, feelings like I've never lost you
And feelings like i've never have you
Again in my heart.

Feelings, for all my life I'll feel it.
I wish I've never met you, girl;
You'll never come again.

Feelings, feelings like I've never lost you
And feelings like i've never have you
Again in my life.

Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
Wo-o-o, feelings again in my arms.

Feelings...

Why does everyone feel the need to break into song around here?

I feel like I'm in "Guys and Dolls" or "Chicago" or something.

Were no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do i
A full commitments what Im thinking of
You wouldnt get this from any other guy

I just wanna tell you how Im feeling
Gotta make you understand

* never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Weve know each other for so long
Your hearts been aching
But youre too shy to say it
Inside we both know whats been going on
We know the game and were gonna play it

And if you ask me how Im feeling
Dont tell me youre too blind to see

(* repeat)

Give you up. give you up
Give you up, give you up
Never gonna give
Never gonna give, give you up
Never gonna give
Never gonna give, five you up

I just wanna tell you how Im feeling
Gotta make you understand

Ooh my little pretty one, pretty one.
When you gonna give me some time, Sharona?
Ooh you make my motor run, my motor run.
Gun it comin' off the line Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up.
Such a dirty mind. Always get it up for the touch
of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona...

Come a little closer huh, ah will ya huh.
Close enough to look in my eyes, Sharona.
Keeping it a mystery gets to me
Running down the length of my thighs, Sharona
Never gonna stop, give it up. Such a dirty mind.
Always get it up for the touch
of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona...

When you gonna give it to me, give it to me.
It is just a matter of time Sharona
Is it just destiny, destiny?
Or is it just a game in my mind, Sharona?
Never gonna stop, give it up.
Such a dirty mind. Always get it up for the touch
of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo. M M M My Sharona...

Ok, another one, if that person who might be clinically depressed thought they knew a way to get out of their current state, and wished to try, would you advise against the actions or wish them the best of luck ?

I say actions, in that there is a possibility that what they intend to do, might be a road to nowhere, but they are aware of that, but still wish to try, as they believe a large part of ridding the condition has to be achieved by themself and not just the medications and counselling they are receiving, they have got that far.

I would advise them to do the things mentioned above, and not do anything until they do not feel numb anymore.

The fruit is because of the healthy sugars in it, which can help bring up seratonin levels. Plus if it's fruit like apples, grapefruit, or pears, it provides fiber and pectin, which helps keep the guts working regularly, which can alleviate some physical discomfort. Fruit: It helps EVERYTHING!

It is by this course of action that they feel the numbness will perhaps go, whether it works or not, that at the present is immaterial, but the person still wishes to try.

The feeling of numbness is a classic symptom of clinical depression.  Following the medication routine and counseling is the first step.  The other methodology I cannot comment on, as it has yet to be described.

I would recommend an evaluation by a Psychologist...self treatment can be disastrous.  Extreme highs and lows often make good decision making difficult.

Give it a shot, I'd say. Depression is a mess, but it usually can be dealt with.

I agree. Just the fact that this person is willing to take a proactive stance is a positive sign. I'd encourage this person to give the idea a try.

I walked away from both counciling and medication back in '94, and tried my own thing. I may still be nucking futs, but at least I haven't been depressed since.

When I feel that way, I describe it as feeling bogged down; stagnant. It usually happens when I have so much to deal with, I can’t even think straight to begin to unravel what ever mess I’m dealing with. Just thinking about the problems is tiring.

I was taught by a councilor I was seeing a few years back, to look at the situation objectively; "just how bad is it really".

I also found that a good session takes away a lot of the little stuff, so the bigger stuff doesn’t seem so big.

Is that a BDSM session, or a session with the shrink? ...

*grins*

BDSM.

It is actually kind of strange. Up until I got into D/s, I always felt as if I were just below boiling point. Any little thing that came along and I'd start to "boil over".

After the first few sessions with my fist Dom, almost all of that went away.

Of course, not having one for awhile, puts me right back where I started. I think I have a lot of pent up energy that I have no natural way of getting rid of.

It also gives me a short break from the constant thinking.
