This is the route we took with one of our girls,She came for a nice long visit,things sailed right along so before she went back she applied at a local school and was accepted for the next year ,shes here on a student visa and will apply for permanent resident in her 4th year...WE were burned for a round trip ticket once so not again,someone went and bought her here...There are many different ways to immigrate just make it legal with no future hassles....Tickets we provided both on her first visit as well as this last one..bounty

As someone who just moved from the US to Canada in order to live with him and Alandra, it takes patience, money and attention to detail.

We met over three years ago and it was just last December that I was given permission to move to Canada. For the first visit, I paid for my own airfare and hotel room. He paid for all my food and transportation once I was there. The many other visits that we made to each others cities and sometimes meeting in between was paid by both of us. He decided who would pay for the trip.

It is my personal opinion that if you cannot afford to travel, then it is best to not get involved in a long distance relationship. Traveling between countries is even more expensive at times than traveling within your own country.

My best friend a Mistress, met someone online several years, they talked for 3 years prior to them really discussing him moving here or her there. He lives in the UK, they or she fell in love with him thinking it was a shared emotion, he came over eventually and then Mistress visited him over there, they decided to get married (brain fart) he decides to move here, but for some reason he couldn't find work here in his field. He ran up thousands of dollars in credit cards,phone bills ruined her credit, and then flew back home to the UK. Leaving her with the mess. That was in 1999, she didn't get divorced until 2006. Having someone from another country may sound like a good idea but you have to be very careful of the reasons why they want to come over here is it for the Master/Mistress dynamic or just to get a green card. Just be aware of the scenarios that goes with this. Investigate,investigate.....

Don't bother getting special visas. You don't need a special visa to visit as a tourist, from what I understand. Have him book a ROUND TRIP FLIGHT with a reasonable stay on it (a week?) and enter the country prepared to tell officials he plans to visit, has NO DESIRE to immigrate here, has a job back home he wants to return to, and is NOT involved in a romantic relationship with the person he is visiting. Once he gets here, if things go well, just overstay the visit. You can stay here as a tourist up to 6 months.
