Never quite got past my early experiences so i only attended when the discussion was something of interest to me or to attend demonstrations which interested me.


A Note of interest. I have now attended Munches in 16 states and 23 cities.

This is NOT common to the munch scene I have been involved in. In fact one munch became a Q&A for the benifit of two in attendance because they showed up thinking we were all gunna be whip wielding freaks and we turned out to be "normal everyday people" (thier words not ours) and the entire munch (2 1/2 hours) was all of us going around and telling them how to get involved and who we all were and asking them questions on what made them attend and then both were invited as Spectators at a Play Party.  We gave them Orange Arm Bands and they were treated with Kid Gloves and shown around.

One of those girls is not involved with the lifestyle but holds those of us who are in good regard and the other is now a 4th year slave to a Dom/Domme couple in Huston TX.

Please understand that the bnehavior you were shown is NOT typical and what I explained is not exactly typical either, HOWEVER I have yet to go to a munch where there wasn't a Designated "Meet and Greet" session a half hour before the munch.

The actions of this munch would have caused for me and just about everyone I know to have boycotted it as well as start up a different educational Workshop which would be open to anyone who signed up to attend at the munch.... which is how most every workshop I attended that wasn't at a convention has worked.

eyesopened I am SO sorry for your ugly situation and I hope you do realize that that was not typical of most communities I have been involved in.

Status: offline 		I haven't been to a munch, yet.  A.R.M. as well as the East Atlanta(?) fall on the first weekend, when I have my son.  I believe the group in Athens meets on Thursdays at 6-7 p.m., but by the time I get off work and drive almost an hour, it's a bit of a stretch to get there.  Not to mention, Thursdays used to be a date night with my dom.  Since that's not a "problem" anymore, I suppose I could try it, though I'd rather not run into his group....just because.  *sigh*
 
I did make it to 1763 for the Flesh and Fetish Breast Fest a couple of weeks ago and hope to be able to attend the next party, if I don't have my son.

Not a problem!  i did find other groups within my area which have provided me with a place to learn but i will admit that even after all these years i will never forget the "figure it out for yourself" and yanno, i did figure it out for myself.  i still believe munch groups can be a place to learn and i love attending demonstrations.  The group i am a member of does a great job of putting together great demos and presentations.  All of my past Dominants and my fabulous, wonderful Master are not members of any group and i certainly did not meet any of them at such events.

Status: offline 		My Wife and I are members of a local BDSM club, and attend their 'every other month' munches.  They have two summer campouts scheduled, and We'll be attending both of those, with Our subs in tow. 
 
We found out about this group from a submissive that I met on another site.  Visiting--and keeping in touch with--people in your area, even local people you meet online, is a great resourse.

Status: offline 		 to eyesopened:  I had gotten a few "figure it out for yourself" too. I had learned that some people say it because they don't want to be bothered explaining, or (maybe.) they don't want to influence you into a path you wouldn't have taken.  Luckly early in, I had made some worthwhile friends who taught me alot, (and still do!) But the overall attitude of the group, I don't care for. If I had run into that sort of thing when I was starting out, I don't know if I would have stayed.

roughleather, Are you so judgemental about those that are overweight, that you can't even have a normal conversation in a room that happens to have overweight people? Or even *gasp* actually have a conversation with someone who is overweight? And OMG, you might actually learn something!

Ok, sorry I digressed. back to normal thread discussion.

I know right!!! I feel the same way about all the Middle Aged Receding Hairline Guys with Mildly attractive girls who say "At least they aren't Fat" Those guys just ruin the whole day for me. The only thing worse than those guys are the guys who for some reason believe that a persons appearance determines thier worth, cause someone who doesn't fit thier person view of attractibe couldn't possibly be worth thier time.

God the nerve of those people attending a munch. There ought to be a law right??

Status: offline 		i went to the whimper munch after finding it on yahoo....it was close and the host, noble, and his slave amanda were  both awesome human beings

havent been back, but it took me 2 years to get the nerve to go the first time.  it was pleasant and everyone seemed perfectly normal and all even!

i am hoping to go back this summer.  seems life gets in the way during the school year when im working.  or i havent made it a priority to get back.  but from my one time, id definately recommend it to anyone else whos afraid or timid.  good folks for sure.

Status: offline 		I read somewhere online about a "munch" and googled it and the name of my city.  Been going whenever I can for the last year and a half.

I keep hearing all of these horror stories about bad, unfriendly munches.  Then I think about how the local munches here are,  It really makes me sad that people cant welcome someone new to the lifestyle.

Status: offline 		     Not having a local munch (in 1999) in our area I decided to start one.  We really had a great thing for about 2.5 years...lots of education, demos etc.  Then, as in many cases, the drama and political garbage took over.  At that point I walked out.
