De gustabus non disputandem. I think Marcus Aurellius, circa 200 BC. Meaning: of taste there is no arguing. Thank God, this world is large enough for all kinds of music, food, clothing styles etc. I had a brief interest in Zappa around age 14, was past it by the time I entered college. I can smile tolerantly when it comes on the radio, but not interested in listening to it again. As far as scene music, nothing with vocals please. Soft jazz fills in the background and there aren't any other voices but his for me to focus on. In the car I listen to country. I'm too old to listen to little boys posturing how big and bad they are and how desperate they are to get laid. Country frequently includes songs reflecting where I am in my life. Alan Jackson's tune about teaching his daughters to drive was big the same year I was teaching my oldest to drive. Believe me, I related to that in spades.
