It doesn't make much sense, but gender essentialism is a good way to get to categorical degredation. It's hot to imagine that our identities as dom and sub are something intrinsic, and indeed the natural state of affairs: that it is right for the one to take control of the other. There's not much that's more intrinsic to our identities than gender, so imagining that one gender is naturally more dominant than the other is a good way of getting at this.
