Do you live in a little hamlet or big city? Do you like it, love it, or hate it?

christine1 -> RE: I love / hate this town! (4/29/2008 9:32:13 PM)

i live in Salt Lake City.  it is gorgeous here...BUT, the wages are low and the taxes are fucking outrageous.  we are in the top 5 for highest taxed states and in the lowest 10 for low wages.  i won't stay here for more than a few more years now that my kids are almost grown.

I live in a small town in Northern California, called Paradise  Yes it is really named Paradise.  I love it here for the most part, but along with being in a small town you have the small town drama which I could totally live without.

heh.  When I was in high school, there was a girl who petitioned (and won) for emancipated minor status, so she could marry her boyfriend and move to Paradise.

Wonder what ever happened to her?

I'm in Atlanta (East Cobb county/Marietta, actually) and, while it has its attractions, I'd prefer to be elsewhere. This metro area is proof that Houston can be cloned anywhere.

There aren't too many cities in N. America I'd be willing to live in. I'm not much for small towns; I'd rather live away from people but relatively near a large airport.

my Master and i have lived many places thanks to Uncle Sam.

Last year we moved from S. Korea. There are mountains, and all the vallies seem to be one huge 30 year old city. The buildings are huge, giant filing cabnets for people.  It's dirty and i felt like an amazon with my 5' 4" massive height. i still feel weirds in heels. It was so so.

Now we live in Kansas where you must drive an hour if you're lucky to get to a moderate sized town. Hate it here. Thought that if we moved further north that people wouldn't be so clone-like, alas...

We plan to retire on our land in Arkansas. Nice property on top of a mountain surrounded 3/4 by National Forest. There are little towns at the bottom of the mountian and bigger cities are just close enough and far enough away. Love it.

I like Tampa. WHat I dont like about it, I think, has more to do with my crappy work schedule than anything else..LOL

one of the BEST places I've ever lived was the Nashville area.  We lived 20 mins out of downtown Nashville, but was a world away..cross the Wilson Co. line and it was so very rural. 6.5 acres, mostly wooded.  Lots of people with livestock all around us. The people rocked.

I never should have left the area. I left there and (for SOME dumbass reason I cant remember) moved back to L.A.

gah.

im afraid your Master would hit on me too much!!!!! and keep me away from hitting on you!!!

phoenixinchains -> RE: I love / hate this town! (4/29/2008 10:18:57 PM)

lol, you'd have to ask Him about that. Master is straight, but we both enjoy gaming, and most of our best friends are gay, bi, les, and one guy on her way to getting the right parts. Master's only regret to my being bi is that He says i'm too picky about girlfriends. *sighs* i have to see more than sex when i look at a woman for a posible relationship.

phoenixinchains -> RE: I love / hate this town! (4/29/2008 10:21:12 PM)

sorry bout that, i was reading too fast and thought you were afraid He wouldn't hit on you enough. Lol, i know where my brain is...

I live in San Diego, and I hate it.  The public transit's a joke, its too big, and it costs WAY too much to live here.  I miss the pacific Northwest...

phoenixinchains -> RE: I love / hate this town! (4/29/2008 10:30:10 PM)

i miss chickens and yard dogs and never having to clean out a garbage disposal.

MasterKalif -> RE: I love / hate this town! (4/29/2008 10:38:26 PM)

I love it where I live...I live in NJ and work 20 mins away in NYC (Manhattan) a bus ride away...and while I see the city up close across the Hudson, where I live its suburban, quiet and peaceful and can drive my car...but if I want the crazyness of the city or experience big city life, I just have to take the bus and I am there in no time. Everytime I see NYC...it take my breath away such a majestic city...

I also like Samtiago, in Chile where I am from originally its beautiful and surrounded by the Andes, however the buildings are not as tall (earthquake country), but wouldn't mind living there again.

sappatoti -> RE: I love / hate this town! (4/29/2008 10:46:51 PM)

I've lived in quite a few different places of varying sizes and cultures. Without exception, every place I've lived had elements I loved along with other elements I hated. I guess it depends upon the mood I'm in at the time I'm asked as to whether I love or hate the place I'm in.

Currently, I live in a somewhat rural area which coincidentally is only a few miles from where the FL representative opposed to spheroid ornamentation dangling from vehicles lives. I see quite a few sets of those dangling spheroids. No big deal to those who live around here. I also see the roadside signs peppered with holes from drive-by shotgun blasts; considered to be a visual staple, some say stereotypical, for just such an area. I have to drive ten miles to the closest convenience store, fifteen to the grocery store, and even more to a super Target or Wal-Mart. Yet, despite the pastoral setting, we have fairly decent DSL (though the cable TV-supplied broadband is way overbooked) and cell phone coverage. Absolutely no mass transit of any kind, including taxis. If you need to get somewhere, you have to walk, bike, drive, thumb, or ride some sort of animal.

Do I love it or hate it? I tolerate it... for now.

GreedyTop -> RE: I love / hate this town! (4/29/2008 10:49:32 PM)

Sappa?? I wanna live there!! (wait. how far from tampa? with gas prices, I gotta think about the commute..LOL)

phoenixinchains -> RE: I love / hate this town! (4/29/2008 10:50:25 PM)

i miss signs you can't read for the shot gun blast.
and gardening, and the smell of smoke from the wood stove...

90 miles from Citrus Park. I thought about commuting to my old job in Clearwater before gas prices are what they are. Just on time alone it would have been a four-hour total commute, two hours each way. State route 50 can be a nightmare at times.
