Status: offline 		I'm sure I've said this before but in African countries there are statues of a black Virgin Mary. I think in these situations the detail isn't as important as the idea as a whole.

Although in my opinion the idea as a whole is flawed but you all know this because I’ve said it enough times.

There is enough evil in the world for a second coming so what is taking them so long?

I think this is more in reference to the church of rome during its expansionist phase. They learned from the Romans that it is better to absorb foreign religions and control them from within than to oppress them harshly from without. They allowed the pantheon of saints to overlay the native pantheon and permitted pagan traditions to continue under the guise of adoration of the saints. This strategy continued well into the conquest of the Americas.

Once the catholic church had reached saturation, it switched to the more authoritarian, intolerant model we know today.

ummm...not sure what any of that has to do with my post on Constantine and the blending of pagan and early Christian beliefs...but glad if i could help you vent...
 honestly, i get what you're saying...you personalized the post, and that's cool...i do the same sometimes.
