RapierFugue: … except that it contains roughly the same amount of alcohol as pastis. Hang on, I’ll go check the bottles … <rummages in cupboard> Those final scores are: Pastis (“51”): 45% Ouzo: 40% Sambuca: 40% So a narrow victory for pastis there, on the final lap. And now, back to the studio. All true, if you keep weak-ass tourist Ouzo in your cabinet. Barbayannis, probably the widest distribution of the better Greek ouzos, clocks in at 46-50% Babatzyim, similar in scope and taste, at 46-48%, with their "crown royal" Ouzo Apostagma Classic Babatzim closer to 52% -- and smooth as the rear end of a lovely young Greek. (If the stuff were available readily in the USA, I could be in real trouble). Home brewed ouzo by the way can approximate 80% alcohol. And it commonly does, because of the unique way Ouzo is made. It is flavored pure grain alcohol, diluted DOWN (as opposed to the foundations of most apertifs which is brandy, distilled UP. If you really want to know more about this, ask.) So my point is if you just want to read labels off of liquor bottles you purchased once upon a time, you can post what you want. In fact, ouzo is more intoxicating. Not because of myth or magic, because it has more ethyl alc. in it per shot. Duh. E.

"When you wake up, Pooh," said Piglet, "what's the first thing you say?" "What's for breakfast? What do you say, Piglet?" "I say, I wonder what's going to happen exciting today?" Pooh nodded thoughtfully. "It's the same thing," he said.
