I know that you have very strong feelings on this issue because every time a circumcision thread has come up you have made them very clear. The thing is though, there are a lot of people who feel equally strong about it in the exact opposite direction as yourself. They are no more ignorant for the way they feel than you are. You are in a place where uncircumcised is the norm...and we are in a place where it is not the norm. Regardless of the "rightness" or "wrongness" of the procedure, we do at least have to take the "normness" factor into consideration in relationship to where we are. The social factor is important. I have a friend who is uncut and it has been a problem for him all of his adult life. He told me that gym class was a hellish nightmare because of it. He tells me that he is very self conscious of it and that self consciousness is a direct result of the reactions he has gotten, both from his classmates and from the females in his life. Many women here have never seen an uncut penis before. He tells me that it has been extremely rare that he has met a woman who would agree to perform oral sex on him. Now, that certainly is shallow and unfounded....but it is the reality of what he encounters here. We can't simply discount reactions like that because they do happen and we have to deal with them. Granted, that type of reaction comes from a place of ignorance...but that doesn't make it any easier on him the first time he tries to become intimate with someone. I also knew a man who was uncut and married a woman who had never experienced that before. Apparently, she always found it rather unappealing but tried for several years to overcome that. She knew that it was silly to have such a reaction. Unfortunately though, try as she did she just never could view it in a yummy sort of way. Ultimately, their sex life suffered and they divorced. You are not wrong in your views but neither are those who prefer it the other way. I know you have provided a lot of info on the "con" side of cicrcumcision....there is also a lot of info on the "pro" side though, as is evidenced by the links the OP provided. It does ultimately boil down to personal preference...but I don't see either choice as "ignorant" unless it is a choice that is made without taking the time to educate yourself on all of the "pros" and "cons" and making the decision an informed one.
