Mist, I'm not denigrating you for having your boys circumcised, my opinion differs greatly with yours and I agree with Meat that circumcision infringes on individual autonomy but we don't live in perfect societies and we, as parents, make choices for our children until they are of an age to do so themselves. However, putting that aside, I think the issue is that people go into hospital in the US and give birth and circumcision is done as a matter of course - it's the 'done thing' with little thought applied to why. Ask 30 people why they think circumcision is better and most will say 'b/c uncut cock stinks'. In other words, it is still stereotyped as being unclean - uncut = poor hygiene, which as we know isn't the case, although may be in a minor percentage. With fewer and fewer people subscribing to a religion, would it be fair to say circumcision has mostly become a tradition?

Fucking your daughter would be acceptable if enough people did it and it was sanctified by the church, synagogue or mosque. ahh...so those of us who have our male offspring circumsized are ignorant religious nuts. Well, gee... I never knew that. Let me tell you something Sweetie. When my husband and i discussed circumsizing our son i cannot recall, for the life of me, your name ever crossing our lips. YOU WERE NOT CONSULTED. Our reasons were not explained to you and, as much as it may hurt your fragile ego, you right to tell us why our decision was made is totally negated.

Along with the drs, we decided not to have my son circumcized about 21 years ago. The cleanliness factor isn't really an issue anymore. I realize that is entirely a subjective opinion, & if not taken care of properly, dire consequenses could occur. I couldn't see doing it just because it was the norm & because religions thought it was the thing to do, or because it was traditional. I didn't want my boy being cut & his father agreed. I taught my son how to clean his as soon as he was able to coordinate a washcloth, as I did my girls. He is now over 21. He is pretty verbal & open with me about certain topics. Judging from what he has told me, "His bitches" don't seem to have minded at all. He has had a couple serious relationships. The girls don't appear to have any problems at all with his physical attributes. I have since learned that cutting off the foreskin takes away some of a man's sensitivity. An uncircumsized male will not have to pull in & out as hard because they are able to fully enjoy and experience the sensitiviy they are supposed to from intercourse. They don't have to resort to pounding all the time to try to compensate for what they don't know they are supposed to feel & aren't. I have often heard couples going at it. I could hear the pounding as the bed creaked in time to the act, or banged rythmically on the wall, over & over, & over & over ........again..... for what seemed like hours. Sometimes, I have asked myself, even though, it isn't polite to do so, how the hell the poor woman could enjoy that. Some repeated banging can be fun. I know for me, I can only deal with so much of that, then I zone out, sometimes even drying out. They say an uncircumcized male will naturally fall into tune with the woman's own rythyms, gently. I know. I know. Alot of us like it a little rough from time to time, but I know for me, there are times, I enjoy the delicious gentle & sensuous movements of any partner I have been with & crave that as much as the other. I think the benefits might be worth it to any woman who thinks they may be turned off by being with an uncircumcized male. I know, I for one, wouldn't let that be a dealbreaker. Seeing as to the bad feeling this discussion is causing, would it not be better that a new born aside from medical reasons be left uncut. Whence the male is of an age to have a say then the procedure may be discussed. Until that time the onus should be on proper cleanliness rituals to observe.
