ok so My Dear Friend MoGa and I were chatting as Dominas do, gossip, boy chatter, etc and we were talking about fetishes that people have and are they part of BDSM or something different altogether--so we both referrred to a recently watched a re-run of CSI, where the team found a dead man on the road, with a racoon suit on. They didn't understand what a man dressed like that would be out in the middle of nowhere, but yet, there he was. Suffice it to say, what developed was a story about Furries, or Plushies as they are most commonly known. We did some research on this "peticular" play and found it quite amazing. Our first thought was well... but we couldn't have been more wrong.

Participants in “plushie play” have a fuzzy fixation on toys with anthropomorphically human characteristics. A plushie doll might have big doe eyes, a cutesy smile, and human-like breasts and vagina.

Some plushophiles, more commonly known as furries, dress up as animals during sex. Fox, rabbit and kitten costumes with “trap doors” for organs and orifaces are sold and traded at fetish conventions.

What do you think of this practice? Do you consider it an element of BDSM? and would you involve yourself in such play?

I'll go with the honest, if unpopular answer, that it pretty much squicks me out. I find it truly odd. Of course, as with nearly everything, though, it's not my kink, but I'm okay if it's someone else's. I have friend or two interested in the furry side of things. To each their own.

I was indoctrinated into learning what this was via one of my favorite webcomics, Something Positive. I tried to find the specific comic, because it's hilarious, but today isn't my day for using that much energy to look for signs of my own nerdiness. I will answer here as I answered you in our chat. The thought of this intrigues me. I would do it. It looks like fun! But then I am an animal lover (Not in the bad sense) and I think it would be cute to dress pup up as a...well..a Puppy! I would of course be a Lioness or something truly powerful and domineering.

Well, my kink may not be your (In general) kink, but I sure wouldn't take anyone else's opinion into account if and when I decided to use this type of play <s>

It's not a fetish of mine, but I'd like to try it for giggles.

I'd consider it a kink like so many other oddities that get shoved under the BDSM umbrella.

I don't see anything too odd or wrong at all about plushy/furrydom; it's certainly not any more bizarre than some of the things out there and it's a lot less risky/potentially harmful than good number... As long as the individual isn't taking it to an unhealthy or harmful-to-others extreme I can't say anything bad about it, same as with other kinks.

I must confess. Your posts of late are reminding me of the sorts of questions that one might see in government conspiracy movies... You know the ones where the gov tries to get all the info they can on individuals so as to use it in the cohersion of said person to do the gov's bidding. Yeah I know... Off base. (I hope LOL) But I am thinking there are a lot better things to discuss than what I think about what other people do, and conversley, I would think there are more pressing and entertaining topics to discuss than to see if what you think may or may not be jaded is commonly accepted and or persuading the boards to pass judgement on other kink, wheather it be bdsm or another type. I hope that I learn to see what contribution outing and judging others could possibly serve.

I mean really, are you just a gov service or is there more to the inquisitiveness. I am acknowledging the almost drought of entertaining threads in here of late but... Maybe I am just paranoid.

Don't know much about it but it might depend on if some of the Plushies get to kept others in a cage...or if sheepdog Plushies get to herd sheep Plushies....or if a CD wolf Plushie dressed up in sheep's clothing, and suddenly started to do something nasty with his crook.

Do the fox Plushies get to pluck and play with the tree Plushie's grapes? Do racoon Plushies have to wear masks? Do any of them get captured and banded?

Then again, if the lions get to lay down with the sheep and the wolf lives with the lamb and the leopard lies down with the kid and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together ....there better not be any young child to lead them, or I wouldn't consider it BDSM.

Always thought it was HOT on Paper however I find that it would quickly ONLY be about the sex to me and thus I would not quite fit into the KINK of it.

I like Faceless sex and that is what this would be to me. A way of having sex with an anonymous partner and to me that is VERY HOT. However I find nothing HOT about people in Fuzzy Costumes. Nor do I understand the attraction to the activities they engage in outside of sex and so I would be happy with it in theroy but not in practice.

HL. no I don't work for the government! and as for inspiration, well we didn't address the proplushies who charge, the tribute furries who ask for animal crackers and want you to have a paypet account etc etc--I'm not here perse to have people weigh in judgement as much to get some education and think about it---and of late, Dear HL there isn't much we seem to be able to inspire you with---I do try.

I might would consider it an "alternative lifestyle" choice or activity, but personally wouldn't place it under the BDSM umbrella. There are people who like to "dress up" as all sorts of stuff - sci fi characters, vampires, etc.... and maybe they also enjoy BDSM activities, but I still think it's a seperate lifestyle or activity. But if they wanna park their furry little butts under the BDSM umbrella, I really don't care.

As to any thoughts about plushy/furry types - whatever floats your boat, but as much as I love him, I don't wanna fuck Scooby Doo.

p.s. I'm not talking about sub/slave/bottoms who identify as puppies, kitties or ponies.

Ok, this is not an attack either, just a simple observation:

I suppose you would much rather read the flamings, sub vs. slaves, how do I write a profile, why wont Dom's email me, why can't I get attention..wah wah wah, or the best of them all.. I am bleeding from every orifice in my body and I need emergency help, what can I do?

I find Lady Hathor's posts refreshing after reading the same old shit we read for days and days. Current lack of inspiration? Give me a break. This is the most creative and inspired thread I have read on CM in a while.

Go back and read the whining and the constant chatter of those who ask for help and get it, then have the nerve to slander those that they asked for help to begin with.

As for the reading of the whinning... well... I think we may be in agreement on the cause of this thread then... It was just funny in my head about "Hey you... Anything can be part of "our fun." While furries tend to be a separate type of sub culture, they can easily be incorporated into the Ds dynamic. There's always the famous Midori in a bunny costume story.

I could never be a furry -- i would get way too hot in one of those costumes - and not in a good way.

I was under the impression that the whole dressing up as (Furries) and sex with stuffed toys (plushies) where mostly destinct and seperate.

The dressing up as? Well folks dress up in uniforms as nurses, police, nuns, whores, whatever... so why not a cat costume? Doesn't bother Me in the slightest. I'm not particularly into roleplay but if I was then maybe it'd be fun.

The sex with stuffied toys? OK this one falls into the same catagory as adult baby etc for Me... I don't 'get it', it doesn't float My boat... if it floats yours then good for you but over there thanks rather than under My nose as I ain't interested in being around it.

I wouldn't consider it to be a part of BDSM unless an exchange of power were involved. I've always thought of it as a sexual fetish on its own, but then I tend to think of everything 'fetishy' as not being a part of BDSM unless there is a flow of power.For me that's the key, without the domination/topping etc then it's just another variety of sexual pleasure. I totally agree with kiwi, I would be way too hot and most likely too claustrophobic to be fully costumed. I see how it could be fun and rather freeing to be a plushie though. In a way it is appealing to me but on a practical level it isn't.

FYI, the Furry community goes well beyond fetishes and sex. A good part is into Furry art and playing Second Life et al. with Furry avatars.

My daughter is one of the better-known Furry artists and has a growing presence on Second Life. AFAIK, she and her fiance don't engage in Furry sex, however. (Then again, he is...Dutch!)
