In most walks of life there are those who jump right in boots and all without ever reading the manual. They see something in a chat room, role-play or on TV and take it as bring the right thing to do. Then there those who don’t read the books or manuals written by people experienced in what ever it is but grab a hold of a book (Comics (I’m thinking of the Manga Comics here) for many because they read pictures then words), because it is nice and shiny and offers instant mastership of what it is they are interested in, and take what they see/read as gospel. Then of course there are those who don’t read, don’t want to seek help (might do their “Image” harm by admitting they know bugger all, but gobble up all the piss talk when guys are drunk and pissing against a wall. (A lot of guys on my generation learned all the wrong things about how to pick up a chick or sex ~ without foreplay). I used to watch, years ago when I was role-playing Gor on MSN how the young bloods just out of high school would come in as a warrior, full of piss, wind and bad manners, and order the first slave about on her knees and order to give head.. Would have been laughable if it wasn’t so pathetic. Basically nothing is likely to change, no matter how many times we all try to get the message across that you don’t do that mostly because egos get in the way. On the other hand you have the new Dom (in designation only) who has listened to people in the know and waited and waited and waited until he at long last gets a sub/slave to respond to him and new Dom frenzy takes over and he acts like a puppy who after trying to bark like a big dog catches a parked car and all he can do is piss on the wheels….\On another aspect already mentioned. Dominants by nature are or need to have the hard bastard in their makeup. Anybody who has to make the hard decisions which many don't have the balls to make, is going to upset somebody. It goes with the job, and it doesn't matter if that decision is to fire some worthles SoB, order some one removed for a venue or give the order knowing that lives witl be at risk and some people will die, you will never be right in everybodies eyes, some will congratulate you, prase you or hate your guts and curse you. That is the price of being a Dominant.
Just my views place what worth you chose on it ..
