To me.. condescending "endearments" like that are equal to a female type of  "n" word.  That "Let's keep them in their place" attitude.  Nope, that sound bite struck me hard and I'm not an overly sensitive person.  I wanted to slap his face.  And not to worry.. you can HAVE Louisiana.

Oh, why so snippy, little lady?  Upset that no one has called you sweetie on here?  No worries, though.  You can come to Louisiana and someone is bound to call you sweetie.  We'll welcome just about anyone in Louisiana...we're friendly like that down here, sweetie.   The amazing culture, fantastic music, and the tastiest cuisine on the planet will be enough to make you forget that snarky attitude about Louisiana.

Here's a little food for thought, though.  Would there be any hoopla if Obama told a young MALE reporter who asked the exact same question, "Hold on, sonny", or "One moment, champ"?  I highly doubt it. 

I guess you're a Hillary supporter.  If it was a Hillary post, it would have surely ended up in the humor section because the idea of her as president is certainly a joke...just like her campaign.

I'm with you on this one.  I love terms of affection - love, sweety, darling, honey - you name it.  I'd much rather people refer to each other affectionately than insultingly!  Some people use and interpret these terms of endearment as being condescending.  There have been times when I used to, but when I became comfortable and confident with myself, even when I recognize something as condescending, it doesn't bug me.  It speaks more toward the person doing the condescending than anything else, and why get upset about that?

My friends & I are always referring to each other as mushy words.  Makes me feel warm inside. :)
