holly - you have mail.

Well Alumbrado I offered... all someone has to do is take up my challenge and then we'll see if I'm a keyboard commando or not won't we?
Thing is people who advertise their status and their money and patronise the rest of us without knowing who or what we are and what our life experiences are either, invariably never put their money where their mouth is.
It's a usual point of fact.
So let's forget about  DomAviator and make it a more general  thing... if someone, anyone, can come up with a decent amount of aid I'll go and distribute it... no question of it... and btw I reckon Houston is a walk in the park after Kossovo and a few other places I've been to... or maybe you'd disagree since you seem to know so much about my life.[sm=yeahright.gif]

Some people would pay way more than that to see me get hurt [8D] .

Hell, I'd like to hurt you..... [8D]

Now, Level, would you remind the man of some old-fashioned Texan gentlemanship, as you know it so well :-) ?

Thank you, but I'm not sure everyone would concur with that.....

While I'm certainly not on Aviator's "side" in this, there are parts of Houston that are pretty hellish. I'm not saying you would or wouldn't go there, mind you.

I know that the offer was $500 to one specific person... insisting it be $10K or nothing makes it a bet you'll never have to deliver on....what that sort of 'safe bet' bravado says about your life  depends entirely on each person's reading of it.

kittinSol -> RE: HIV positive man gets 35 year sentence for spitting on officer (5/19/2008 6:34:25 PM)

Phew, that's reassuring, I thought you were agreeing with him that perhaps, he wasn't :-).

Pehaps Ravenseer estimates her life to be worth slightly more than a few tankloads on an SUV.

Shes just trying to run interference Level. The offer was for Kittin not her, and it wasnt for 10K either. Now shes trying to make it sound like I backed out, when it was never an offer for her anyway nor was it at 20 times the offered price...

Nonetheless, you are absolutely right about parts of H-Town being hellish. People have no idea... This aint a stroll through the Galleria or the Heights. LOL Id say Little NOLA or The Mog is worse than Kosovo or even Beiruit.

Ravenseer -> RE: HIV positive man gets 35 year sentence for spitting on officer (5/19/2008 6:39:22 PM)

Hiya level... I'm not disagreeing with you... I'm sure that parts of Houston are really damned awful and with some really damned awful people in it... however... maybe like kittin, I don't know her well enough to judge tbh, I do tend to hate sweeping statements about people or areas  because my own personal experience has found them to be rarely true.
Now I might get hurt or killed even maybe if i went to do that... it's a possibility, but hell you might get killed crossing the street, or possibly die of an aneurism reading some of the ignorant posts you get on message boards from people who enjoy lording it over other from the safety of the net:)
Bad places are real, so are bad people, they just rarely occur in the alarmist numbers cited by some folk who seem really scared of life.
I'm not claiming to be superhuman, but I was deadly serious...sometimes you just have to live by and for your own beliefs.
Keyboard commando signing off:)

Ravenseer -> RE: HIV positive man gets 35 year sentence for spitting on officer (5/19/2008 6:49:30 PM)

I only upped the ante because you were bragging earlier in the thread about how much you earn and complaining about homeless people touching your car.... I'm not getting killed for what's allegedly pocket change to you... but 5K's worth of food would make a positive difference... however it's your call...I just dislike bullying...cyber or otherwise and that's what you were doing to kitin.
If you wanted to prove your point then you had the chance to prove that the big bad people of Houston would bite the hand that fee them literally without kitin having to be involved... or potentially getting hurt.

kittinSol -> RE: HIV positive man gets 35 year sentence for spitting on officer (5/19/2008 7:55:10 PM)

On more than one occaision on these boards, I hear about the "welfare for life system"; did you guys hear about the time limits that were put in place..about 10 years ago?

thornhappy

(I haven't finished catching up on the thread yet, hope I'm not going redundant)

Yes.  The Clinton reforms did institute time limits, which have been promptly skirted by simply changing the name on the case every five years, or granting waivers, or shifting to a different program.

Now something like Section 8 housing, that can actually be passed along as an inheritance to the next generation, isn't affected at all.

TheHeretic -> RE: HIV positive man gets 35 year sentence for spitting on officer (5/19/2008 9:55:49 PM)

Tell you what, DA, I'll take up your challenge at the $500 line.  You'll have to throw in a round-trip ticket to Houston, of course (first-class, I have long legs).

I'll go to the nastiest neighborhood you can name, and not only distribute it, but try real hard to make sure it goes to those who can get the most benefit from that $500 worth of groceries.  I'll go in completely unarmed, too, and come out with my wallet and watch.

I'll do it by finding one of the passionate, committed individuals who is working his/her ass off in there.  It might be a minister of God, or a radical revolutionary.  I guarantee you, it won't be anyone drawing a gov't paycheck.  I could get a name and number with a couple of phone calls.  You could probably get it from your local news

Welfare is not, and never will be, a solution to poverty.  It is a safety net that a nation such as ours absolutely should have.  Unfortunately, unintended consequences created a sub-culture which regard the system as a hammock by birthright.

The way out of poverty is to make good choices, and work your ass off.  Real simple.  Real hard.  Find the individual in there who knows that, and is trying to teach.

A number of those from New Orleans have indeed caused problems here, or wherever they ended up. Not all, and I'm not sure anyone is arguing that they all have, that would be hyperbolic and wrong.

Well, DA suggested that it would have been

"...better sent the TANG 147th TFS to drop napalm on them..." istead of helping.

That sounds pretty much like convincing them all, as he wants to kill them all.

orfunboi -> RE: HIV positive man gets 35 year sentence for spitting on officer (5/20/2008 4:19:14 AM)

I'll go with ya, we can take my car. I love road trips.
