While anaphylactic shock is serious as domah posted, it is not something that lasts. You have an allergic reaction, you are treated, you're done. If he is allergic to bee stings, for example, and he got stung, he would have most likely been given an injection of epinephrine and an antihistamine and then observed for a few hours and sent home. If it was so serious as to require a tracheotomy to establish an airway, the odds are that he still would not have spent 5 days in the hospital. I went into anaphylaxis after receiving an injection of demerol in the recovery room after surgery. I had received demerol numerous other times with no problem; they don't know why that time there was a problem (usually an allergic reaction occurs on the second exposure) but they said it could have been the carrier and not the actual drug itself. In any case, even after surgery, it did not increase the amount of time I spent in the hospital and I went home later that day. Miss, I have no idea why people are not just direct and truthful; I complain about this all the time. I've been on the receiving end of the elaborate story before... they just don't realize how much I pay attention to details and something trips them up. If he has your phone number, there is no reason why one of his friends could not call you, and I'm just not buying any reason that he could not call you himself. I'm sorry hon. Cali
