What happened to common respect?  Things like if you loose interest in talking to someone or you decide you arnt going to be compatible with them, you tell them your not interested in chatting anymore.  It isnt hard to say Im sorry but I just dont want to chat with you anymore....But no it seems that more and more people just "vanish" with out any explanation or warning.  It really throws me off when it is durring a normal friendly chat that isnt even leading to any talks of forming a relationship.  Can anyone explane to me maybe why the level of disrespect is so high these days?  I am just so confused as to why it has been lost....

Guess Im just wondering if anyone else has noticed this trend, or if Im just noticing it now and it has always been this way.....

I'm guessing that what will follow will be a series of replies snarking and mocking you and your handle without any real value that will probably carry on for about 5 pages and ironically add validity to your argument about a lack of respect.

I could be wrong though....you never know....

Do you hope, perhaps, that someone in particular notices this thread? It sounds as though you're annoyed over someone letting you down on chat or something... Some people just disappear into the ether - it's irritating, but oh well, c'est la vie.

It's a pretty common complaint really, especially from new posters on the boards.

People poof because they can. There's no particular reason other than they just are not interested in continuing to talk with you.

Yes and no...It is more directed in genral to the over all level of, or lack of curticy and just comon respect that should be shown.  Yet never seems to be from anyone under the age of about oh....30ish.  Is my generation really this out of touch with life?  *sigh*

Yes Madrabit I can see that happening as well

I've done that before.  Just stopped talking to friends or responding to emails or let my family know my contact info ...  (going on 20 years now)  Really, I don't feel any obligation that I have to stay in touch with any of those, much less continue a conversation if I don't feel like it,  I don't really see that as disrespect.  Loners like me just tend to disappear for whatever reason, you shouldn't take that personally.  Now if you were in a committed relationship, that would be different, in that case I'd feel I owe them an explanation or a warning, well, unless they do something that give me cause not to feel even that.

don't know if that's true, or if the non-replies from the under-30's (or the actual replies from the over-30's) is simply a non-event to you, since we usually seek to confirm our suspicions rather than to disconfirm them.

It could be that the over-30's you speak with pick up on some things you say / some vibe you toss out that make them say "Ohhhhh kkkkkkkk, been here, done that, won't do it again."

Yea, these darn kids today. back in my day when we walked barefoot to school for 9 miles through the snow, we showed proper respect.

Im not saying anyone should feel obligated to stay in touch for any reason really but a simple "not interested anymore" would be anough imho..But maybe thats just me.  I know personaly it is something I have always done if I chouse to stop talking to someone.

Maybe it is a fear of confrontation too as I have read lots of stalker storys too

the over 30ish comment was in refrance to thoues in that age range of 30+ seem to show the respect I have come to expect as I spent most of my earlyer years talking to people of that age range about this lifestyle when I was first delving into it.  It is more that I seem to have more of an issue with thoues closer to my age.  Sorry if i wasnt clear with that statment.

"Now Ward, ain't it about time to teach Walley and Beaver the meaning of true respect" - that's my smart ass reply.

Hate to break the news to you, they way people behave and interact on the internet with each other is somewhat different compared to face to face real time.  There's a long list of reasons why, if you actually take time to think about it.

I'm just thankful for the ones, that don't go poof,
I'm thankful for the ones that are actually honest,
I'm thankful for more of what I do find.

When I respond to somebody's profile, I'm thankful if they do reply.
When I'm chatting with somebody, I'm thankful if we do click and they don't go poof.

I'm thankful, why?  Because there are a lot of people, that run and hide, play games, cheat on their spouse, are bored, are fakes, are wankers, are liars, are less then what they paint themselves to be.

(using my best Richard Dean Anderson SG-1 tone of voice) And you're figuring all this out now?

I believe in synchronicity as a rule of the universe so yes I have noticed this thread. It has perfect timing for me.
I just had the poof! thing happen.
I guess E=MC squared huh?
In other words energy equals match times meet plus the cost times committment involved therefore if it's only mailing or chatting and there's been no meet and no real cost involved then it just doesn't mean anything and poof! East come easy go.
Mind you even meeting doesn't always have any different and outcome.
I once had a meet; the date was great. Four hours of talking and talking and a small part of me thought oh great we could be compatible. But then I got a text saying: I am looking for long term and Ithink you are too out there....Like wtf? I loooked around and thought out where, where am I? where is out there and so on until I remembered I had hooked up with him from a straight site. Silly me.
They'll be some major reason in THEIR head as to why they poofed in yours. (Like they think you are bi-polar, or really a man or hey if you are a man they think you are a woman, or you'll be too old or some other way in which you don't match their stereotype. Maybe you still have a stereotype of the well-mannered huiman being?
Good thing they poofed now though than in three years time eh?

(fast reply)

To the OP,

Have you ever tried to simply say, in mid-conversation "Well, it's been really nice chatting with you but ... I find this rather tedious and as we don't have a lot in common, I'm simply going to end this conversation.  I wish you well but don't contact me again."?  Or some version of this?

If you have, and you were chatting with a man, you would know that men get really ugly, really fast when it comes to rejection.  Sometimes I just quit responding and close the window because, frankly, I don't need that type of verbal abuse from someone who was claiming I was 'the most amazingly beautiful Dominant woman he had ever seen' not two sentences earlier (even though he'd never met me).

Perhaps you should try a new thread on how people handle rejection and why they turn into asinine little pricks the moment things don't go their way.

... but, it's a good thing I'm not bitter about this - he he

maybe its because there is the TRUE SLAVE...in your name.

many people dislike TRUE slaves.

yes i am joking...

oh and i am of the 30+

...respect in this lifestyle is almost non existant just as it is in actual society in any life.  it is something that is very hard to earn.

Or like are you chatting to someone else at the same time? Is that why you are suddenly using smileys?????

Or like: oh did your husband just walk in the room or did your internet crash?

Or: I'm aware you only reply to me after midnight or after 10.00 am? Did she leave for work or has she gone to bed?

Or: why has your spelling suddenly degenerated? Aren't I worth a spell check anymore?

There are worse things than a poof.
