Find the literal model of your PC and look for drivers, ie, if it was an HP 5000 laptop, I'd check the bottom to find it's something like dv5206us, then I'd hit google and type dv5206us drivers look for a site that belongs to hp.com (or some variant) and check the driver listings; if XP is listed, you have drivers for XP, and you are allowed downgrade rights to install XP on the machine. Vista sucks ass. It is resource intensive, bass-ackwards, has shitty support, and random failures for no apparent reason. For my money, XP is a better OS... though I've never paid for it, and honestly run linux. I have a Mac as well, and Leopard is an awesome OS, but the cost of macs & replacement hardware is horrendous. Case in point: see if you can downgrade to XP. If you're unhappy with Vista, sell the machine (craigslist?) and buy a machine with XP -- they're available online, used, and from OEM retailers.
