Remember watching Mel Gibsons early years as Mad Max Road Warrior?

As gas prices continue to soar, who sees the Mad Max story becoming true? Gas stations, carrier trucks, oil rigs, and even refineries are bound to be mobed and taken over if things keep going they way they are.

Well, as long as I can drive a ramshackle buggy around an arid nuclear wasteland, I'm not complaining.

I wonder how high gas will get before someone with an alternative viable  fuel or device decides not to let  big oil buy them out. Damn it would be great to send the Opec countries back to the middle ages where they belong.

You know I never thought about it, but I don't remember a lot of T&A in the Mad Max movies.  But there were a lot of B-grade, post-apocalyptic, movies in the 80's that capitilized on that franchise with tons of hot looking women in skimpy outfits (and lots of bondage related themes.) I'm a B-movie fanatic.

Well, there was Virginia Hey... (Farscape) who played that smokin' hot Warrior Woman that ended up hung up on the side of the tanker like Captain Ahab was to Moby Dick....

I preferred her in Farscape as Zan, the blue skinned priestess/anarchist.

But Road Warrior also had some pretty cute punk babes in the bad guy's camp.

Things are just starting to get bad to tell you the truth.

Shit still has not even hit the fan yet.

Things are going to get worse, and gas is going to go up even more, and I don't see it coming down any time in the near future.

Many of us have talked about this and seen it coming for almost a year.

Buckle up your seatbelts, it is going to be a bumpy ride.

Funny you think about Mad Max, I always fancied myself looking like Linda Hamilton {Sarah Conners} in the last scene from
"The Terminator".  Remember when she leaves the gas station at the end, with the bandana on her head and someone says "There is a storm coming" and she says "I know", and drives off into the desert alone?---

Nope.  The bad guys were gay, as I recall.

edit:  actually, I'm thinking of The Road Warrior, in Mad Max, there were still a few nice Aussie types running around.

Tina Turner was hot in the movie to me.
YouTube - Tina Turner - We Don't Need Another Hero
who cares about the chicks? Mel Gibson was hot in Mad Max, check out his butt in the tight leather pants.

Most of the women wore rags and were half naked, so yeah
I guess they were hot.

I saw Mad Max over a hundred times due to conditions beyond my control, until I took it home that is.

The area was not mentioned, but the terrain did not look like Iraq, Iran or any other country we would expect. It may have been desert but there were hunks of vegitation. Much dead, but vegitation nonetheless. Caertain rock formations also, and that open road.

To me that indicates a post war Austrailia or possibly northern Africa. They would have to be near refineries or forget it, but where did the crude come from ? It had to be nearby.

I could have read it wrong though, they could have been getting tankers and oil piped in, and the marauders would leave them alone at that time, waiting for them to refine the crude. Then the war was on again. One thing, control of the refinery seemed to be of the utmost importance.

That movie makes me wonder what a scortched US would look like. I think it pretty close.

The whole idea of the movie is lost unless you have the chance to watch it uninterrupted a few times, or many times.

I'm with ya on this one, man.

Eventually, America is going to have to wake up to the fact that we will eventually run out of gasoline and giving the constant escalation of the issue, it's going to be in my lifetime...not probably....but will happen.

Given that we have no alternative fuel source on the horizon that can replace gasoline, I seriosuly wonder where are country will be in a two decades...hell...even one decade from now?

We're in the beginnings of a major paradigmal shift in regards to the American lifestyle and I have serious doubts that it's going to be a smooth and peaceful one....

Edited to Add : Don't beleive me? Just remember the 70's

Mad, we, as well as others have given this some thought. The crossover is not going to come until gas is about fouteen bucks a gallon. Other forms are so expensive, but then our buddy list led scientist and teachers have cheated us out of at least three generations.

If it costs me twenty bicks to get to work, every day I am off I will wipe my ass with a twenty dollar bill and flush it. You see this has all got to part of a bigger plan. You think the people who control the world got there by not thinking five minutes into the future ?

It is clear that some strife will happen in the US. That little pop we heard on 9/11 was nothing. The big one however, will come with the stroke of a pen.
