cloudboy -> RE: Indiana Jones makes Russian communists see red (5/25/2008 11:36:27 AM)

I saw it LAST NIGHT and I thought the film was POOR. Hero: Indiana Jones: (Ageless, Agile, 9-lives v. aging, less capable, and more vulnerable) Villain: Dominatrix Style Russian KGE Agent: (Pretty, Brunette, single-minded, devoted to Stalin) Hero's bastard son: (A 50s style rocker.) Hero's ex lover: (Bitter x-girlfriend who aged poorly.) Lunatic Sage: (Enables the writers to move a plot along by hocus-pocus.) Action scenes: (Entail visual appeal but no suspense.) No character is two dimensional, and old formula of IJ action seems pointless and silly throughout. Ending is a jungle-location ripoff of the FIRST MOVIE. Other irritations: Movie trivializes nuclear weapons, likens the earth and nature to a theme park, and confuses the PAST with historical props. For me to be more engaged, the adventure has to have some sense reality, history, and adult tensions to it.
