It's just a song for crying out loud, accompanied by a very loud guitar. Regardless of my psychiatric condition, I pay my bills, stay out of jail, try to keep a smile on my face, and won't even kill a cockroach unless I find it inside. Any therapist I have ever seen would say that anybody that has to spend more than five minutes on a personals website has a mental problem when they could be enjoying the reality of life's simplest pleasures, let alone spend hours making dianosis' of how imperfect someone else's backyard is while it is obvious that their own needs attention.

Man, I dont get you. YOU come in here and ask for advice, YOU put it out there about this whole situation, what did you think was going to happen? we would all look at you and say "Yep thats normal! Have a great day!" Seriously, if your going to come out here and defend it then there is no point to posting it and asking for our opinnions.

Ya know, if people are going to keep referencing it, it's not DMS-IV but DSM-IV.  It stands for "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders".  We're on "version four", which is what the "IV" stands for.

And maybe I skimmed this train wreck, but I thought I saw alot of suggestion that he might have.../probably has.../should be checked for... bipolar, but I didn't see too many posts telling him to go get medicated today because he HAS bipolar.

How refreshing to know that

is now a substitute for sitting in a classroom.
Just about, no, make that,
everybody has been calling me crazy for years.
Every time my head has been examined
guess what they found?
Someone once asked for my opinion
then said she wasn't necessarily
going to use the advice.
For months, daily she nagged at me
to seek out help from a therapist.
 "Never!!" I replied.
Then a friend advised me
to ask her to accompany me in therapy
because every shrink in the world
would say I was indeed out of my mind
for listening to that constant noise.
So, I asked her to go with me.
She did not ever ask me again.
 
Hillary and her backers
couldn't say one good thing about Obama.
Now they love him!
Does that make them all bi~polar?
He thought he could control her
until she went bi~polar..

Not exactly sure how that is going to improve anything. My suggestion, apart from the obvious ones (psych ward, etc.) would be to have the sub locked up or in a straitjacket or something like that. She might be better off with someone that can manage her than in the ward, but in all likelyhood there is something worth investigating that's causing the problem. If so, there are medical interventions that tend to be effective.

To the OP: if you're keeping her around, haul her over to the nearest Amen Clinic (no, not a religious thing; they just happen to be the only ones applying "experimental" brain imaging to figure out what's wrong where). I've very rarely seen any non-aspies shift to a violent mode that quickly and profoundly without there being a problem that is quite visible when you image their brain (SPECT, PET, fMRI; less frequently, CT).

If it's tied to a trigger, then there's most likely a dysregulation somewhere that can be corrected or ameliorated with medication. If it's not tied to a trigger, then I'd suspect some sort of epileptiform activity (a buddy of mine is dead calm unless he has a minor seizure, in which case you will find five bruised police officers resting outside the cell after wrestling him in there... one for each limb), compression or the like.

I'm no doc, though, and she really needs to see one. Amen Clinics is a good bet, IMO.

No... we're on "version four - revised," which is "IV-TR" or "IV-R," pending the major overhaul in version five which is taking forever to complete due to conflicting interests and other issues. (For instance, some few people are trying to argue in favor of some modicum of sanity among the actual practicioners, and not just their patients— this clearly doesn't meet with industry approval.)

Bit quick turnaround for a bipolar, no? IIRC, it's pretty rare to switch that quickly. Not that bipolar is my area of interest per se, so don't sue me if my memory is playing a trick on me here. Borderline or somesuch would seem more likely to me, if we're talking actual labels (I'm usually more interested in etymologies or problems).

Psssttt!  Aswad!  I knew about the "revised" thing, I was trying to keep the confusion down... when most lay people cite it, they write DSM-IV, so that's what I was explaining, that it was roman numerals and not the letters "i" and "v".
