Steel, Thank you for responding to my message with respect and courtesy. I understand perfectly well that the structure of internet dating is probably not going to change much, but what's the harm in trying? Rather than suffer in silence I decided to at least make an attempt to cut down on the spam. As Gandhi says "be the change you want to see in the world." Yes understand that most of the people who read the forums probably are not the ones who send spam. Of course. I get that. But I still think that posting my feelings might do a least a LITTLE good, and really what's the harm? Who was hurt by my attempt to make the site better for everyone? I want to say to all the people who instantly pounced on my post to insult me, called me a "Whiner" and told me to relax... I think maybe you need to take your own advice. Relax, there's no need to throw insults at me. Yes, i worded my original post harshly, in the hopes that it would draw attention, so that more people would read it, so that it might actually have some small effect. But I am not hurting anyone. Think of it like the only spot of color in a drab grey background. Use the situation to your benefit. If women are not writing you back, it is not somebody else's fault.

I think many of the new users do not realize that the male and female halves of this site have a very different experience, especially in terms of the sheer volume of meaningless email they receive. By having a discussion about it, we just might educate some newbies in the process. By openly and freely discussing these issues, we can (hopefully) raise the quality of experience for everyone. -Zen

i agree with Zen.. when i get a mail that shows no sign a person (male or female) even glanced at my profile i usually reply back kindly saying something like, read my rpofile.. then well talk.. i dont get many replys from them after that.. spamming can be fun yes.. but it gets annoying when u get 5+ mails from ppl that havent look at ur profile.. let alone read it. H >:)

That doesn't work any better than sending out spam as you can see by the responses you generated. You had a few who jumped on your bandwagon but most won't. The spammers do the exact same thing. Sometimes sending out that spam works and that's why they do it. Sometimes coming into a cyber forum and pitching a hissy fit works, too. Perhaps you'll learn something as well?

Bita, Unlike spam, this is a discussion board. This is a place where people are ENCOURAGED to share their ideas in order to spark interesting conversations. If you do not like this topic, no one is forcing you to read it or respond to it, you are welcome to leave. Spam on the other hand, can become an invasion of your private space when it piles up in huge amounts. That is the difference. Ah, but his point wasn't really to lecture all the spammers -- instead it was to appear like a knight in shining armor to help protect all the delicate submissive gals around here. So he's really exactly like the spammers -- same motive, but rather than spamming by e-mail he spams the message board. Dumb move, though, because at least the spammers don't open themselves up to public ridicule, so they may actually have better luck at it.
