All I can say about racist jokes is that if you have a good Irish joke, tell me.  I use the drunken Irishman stereotype as one of the characters I portray when I perform.  If you get two Irishmen together, it seems one of us always has a good Irish joke.  Having said that, I have an extreme distaste for other racial jokes.  I just glaze over when someone starts telling them and give them the blank "thats not funny" stare.  I usually don't get repeat business.  I might be more inclined to listen to someone making jokes about their own ethnic group but thats because anyone who can laugh at himself/herself has at least one redeeming quality.  They don't take themselves too damned seriously.

It's my opinion that only those who were actually alive during the time period in question deserve it. Otherwise just about every single person owes somebody something and it's not fair to pick and choose. Jews, Africans, Christians, Irish, English, Vikings, Chinese, Native American, etc - all were made captives and took captives from other people. You can argue that some have suffered more but to me that puts a price tag on pain. It's not somewhere I'm willing to go and, for the record, if someone offered me money for Hilter's Holocaust or the raping that the Vikings did I wouldn't take it. It won't take their suffering away - it just sells off their pain.

I am against programs that divide people by enthic group or religion and am in favor of hiring or acceptance programs that don't look at the person's name, picture, or the little box relating to their skin color. I am completely in favor of groups that help kids in lower income families by helping them get extra education but when it comes time to apply for college and jobs I don't think skin color should have a damn thing to do with it.
