Ya know, the other half was born in the 4 pound range and they used a dresser drawer for his sleeping space.
When I was getting ready to take Roscoe home from the NICU, the doctor asked about his crib. I commented that I did not have it put together yet. "Where is he going to sleep?" I was very tempted to say, "In a laundry basket, of course." Or to say, "I have a dresser drawer cleaned out."
We have a cradle sized bassinet, actually.
I am pretty sure that I would be turned into social services if I put him in a dresser drawer these days. Even though that is about the same size as the isoletes.
The really weird part is that our family doctor is the only one that does not flip out over the size of my babies. My OBGYN, the perinatologists, yadda yadda, all go nutso over their size. Our family doctor's response has been, "He/she is small, but you are not that big yourself." and "He is NOT going to be six foot four."[:D] Of course he is almost 60 and so has a bit of a different view on some things. Thankfully.
