Hey Kittin, what does "Coup de grace" mean in French?

Literally, "the final stroke". Administering a "coup de grace" means to finish somebody (or something) off.

None of my bloody business per se, but with so many American friends both in the US and living here I get involved in the election discussions. One constant kept comming through prior to her conceeding defeat, was that probably the thing holding her back could have been the doubtless generations of her family gathering at times in white robes and white hoods with a burning cross.. Who knows what drives people on any election trail and why some will not admit defeat unless preassured by their party. It's going to be an interesting Presidential election campaign now in ny case..

A case can and has been made concerning her ambition, her ruthfulness even her marriage being one of convienance....but this is the first reference to "generations of her family...in white robes".Must admit to total ignorance on this score....please explain where this charge comes from...and than explain why she should have to answer for the sins of the father so to speak

As I stated on my post, I get into many and varied discussions with friends and acquaintances from the US both on line and here in Australia. My comment was simpley an observation of what was a common view by others about the probabliity of the political, racial and other activities of her for bears. It would be logical (supported by the evidence of those who i know who still support the clan, that often these things don't completely die out but may remain masked or even burried and come out in some attitudes of which such people may not be aware.... No one is asking her to pay fir the sins of her ancestors real or immagined, 'twas an observation nothing more or less...

Sorry IronBear best thing you could do is expand your circle of friends. She is certainly open to many a charge but this is not one of them....The Clintons(both Bill and Hillary) have been tireless supporters of equal opportunity across the board...Did she get a little nasty during this recent nomination process ...most assuredly...but labeling her a racist is way over board if the measuring stick is her public works

Thanks Kittin, I thought it might be something close to that.
It would have been fun to be a fly on the wall the other day at Hillary and Obama's "meeting."
Two glasses of sparkling water on the table just as full when they left as they were when they first sat down!
