I can submit sexually without love, all that takes is a bit of respect and trust, but to submit myself fully there would need to be at least the possibility of falling in love, although it doesn't have to be straight away. Love just seems to come naturally with the intimacy of submitting yourself to someone completely.

For me, interested only in the Master/slave dynamic, I cannot fathom attempting it without loving the girl.  At least for me, only the love could possibly make up for what an incredible pain in the ass it can be to be a good Master.  It's easy, however, to envision progressively more and more constrained forms of D/s until there's something I would agree to do without love.

Then again, I'm a self-identified disney dom.

What on earth is an self identified disney dom,
are ya into pluto or goofy?

It is not required for everybody, for some it is.  However, sooner or later love in some form or another evols.  Ironic though it can fuck with S&M play, humilation, use and abuse for some people.  For other people is makes those same things all the more special.

There's a reason why the keep it simple by calling it submission, and not some other name such as Lovemission.  Think they tried that one out in the 60's with the Free Love movement though.  All the Hippies, Doing Drugs, Getting Naked, having Group Sex, and dancing in the rivers.  Then again what did they know, they were all stoned out of their minds.  Hell, I'd be hugging trees and wanting to fuck anything that moved and loving the whole world and everything in it, if I were Tripping on Acid and stoned out of my mind.

i suppose it is different for everyone, depending on what they are looking for and their definitions of "submission". In my case, yes, love is an important aspect if there is to be true submission.

I've never felt that love is vital for submission, I can and have had very satisfying sessions with casual play partners.  However, as was said by someone earlier, being owned requires love.  Different strokes (with different implements) for different folks I guess :)

I would tend to believe that Love is very important.  I know that it is in my case.  I am holding out for a passionate, intimate D/s relationship with a Mistress to whom I can fully surrender and submit.  I think that is what keeps me from seeking out Pro Dommes.  I don't want a Mistress just for the sake of fulfilling a sexual fantasy.  I truly want to to be with a Dominant Woman to whom I can fully give myself and submit.

I can only agree,
It's what I've experianced too,
and I seek no less.

Although that's hard to find.

"Love" has nothing to do with it for me. To submit all i needed was that spark of chemistry, compatible views on how things should be & most importantly trust.
i care deeply for my Master, but i do not consider myself to "love" or be "in love" with Him.. My care has grown as i have grown to know Him, a calm, deep, controlled feeling.. Not some head over heels spontaneous emotional fit which is about as stable as a one-legged-tightrope-walker.. Just my opinion on "love".

Whatever your chosen path, i hope it is a happy journey xx

For Me a relationship based upon love
is needed in order to Dominate.
I've tried it with subs I "just" liked,
and It alwasy felt empty, meaningless.
they went home happy, and I was always missing out.

I've experianced it based upon Love & passion,
so since then I know, that that's the way
I want it, and not anyway else.
I do realise I'm not making this easy for Myself.

So how do you feel about this, and what's importent
for you  ?

Im curious to hear your answers.

I wish you enough.

For me, love isn't an ingredient needed for me to submit.  Love, on the other hand, determines to what level I'm willing to submit.  I can and have played with dommes who I was just really good friends with and I submitted to them...to an extent.

My submission to Mistress, however, goes to a completely different level because I am in love with Her and She is in love with me.  That love allows me the freedom and courage to do things I would probably be uncomfortable with doing with someone who is just a friend.

I think that trust is probably the most important for me - but love is certainly an ingredient - but then I also think there are various levels of love from romantic to love between very good friends.  For me, I need to love a person on some level to give myself to them physically or emotionally.

Good question.  Simple answer, no.  I have submitted to a Dominant many times without loving her.  If she is strong and powerful, she can make me tend to submission just being around her.  It just takes the right temperment in her.  She has to be the real thing.
