hizgeorgiapeach -> A question that's been asked millions of times... (6/11/2008 5:32:59 PM)

And yet, no really satisfactory answer has ever been given.  I probably shouldn't post this while I'm having a "not even Lemonaide" day, but since it's a factor in what has made today (and this week) so frustrating, I'm going to anyway.

What is it, Honestly, that men want?  I don't mean "what do sub men want" or "what do dom men want" - because frankly, that is the easy part.  The subs (both male and female) want someone to take charge.  The doms (again both male and female) want someone to take charge Of.  All well and good, but completely irrelevant to what it is that I'm having a hard time figuring out.

What is it that males - regardless of orientation towards dom/sub - want out of women?

Is it Eyecandy and Sex?  (not necessarily in that order)
Or is it something that not even males can explain in a satisfactory manner?

While I was much (Much) younger, I asked my father - as the  male who was closest to me - what it is that men want.  His answer was fairly straightforward, but the older I get, the more I question whether it's still relevant, and whether it was even really Relevant to anyone other than himself when he gave me this answer:   "Men want Betty Crocker in the Kitchen, June Cleaver in Public, and The Happy Hooker in the bedroom."  After saying that, he refused to elaborate further.  Was he right?  Was he wrong?  Am I simply to frustrated right now with males in general for the answer to make much difference?

Dr Laura says, basically, that what husbands want from their wives is:

"direct communication, respect, appreciation, food, and good loving'"

Pretty much what your father said.

Overall, I think this is accurate, for men who are interested in a relationship.

Men who aren't interested in a relationship only want sex.

Preferably a blow job.  [:D]

We want a woman who "likes" us.

MasterGyre -> RE: A question that's been asked millions of times... (6/11/2008 5:58:45 PM)

I've always thought of purpose and validation to be the most basic of human needs, despite gender.  As far as what men want, I guess I couldn't say anything but those two things.  I think that someone's sex doesn't change their human needs and that the needs of men vary as much as the needs of just about any catagory of human beings, assuming that catagory isn't distinguishing itself by its needs (ie:  subs and doms).

Just my opinion.  :)

Different men want different things.

Want, and need, and what one will live with, are not always the same thing.

I want a woman that makes me laugh, that makes my dick hard, that earns my respect, that makes me think. I want a woman that adores me, is deeply interested in me and shows it. I want a woman that loves me, and that I love.

Not asking too much, is it? [8|]

Don't be silly, we all want the same things, as listed in Memorandum 27 from the annual secret meeting. You did attend your local male network meeting for the year to pick up a copy of the guidelines, right?

Seriously, if I was a man I'd feel a tiny wee bit patronised by this thread. Talk about generalisations!

Nah, we men are truly simple creatures with few and simple needs. They are, in order:

1) Tight pussy

2) Loose shoes

3) A warm, dry place to sleep

No, I got lost on the way, and by the time I asked for directions, the meeting was over.

To avoid further Generalizations is Why I Asked The Question, kittin.

Avoiding generalizations requires knowledge.  The only way to gain that knowledge is to ask those who would know.

I would think food might need to be on that list there tiger.

Real_Trouble -> RE: A question that's been asked millions of times... (6/11/2008 6:38:03 PM)

For me:

- Smart enough to at least keep up with me in conversation (generally, smarter is better here)
- Hot, kinky sex
- Physical attractiveness
- The ability to carry on a genuinely compelling conversation (perhaps not all of the time - none of us are always 'on', but at least sometimes)
- To have their own meaningful goals in life (I have no time for those without ambition or those who expect me to support them entirely)
- The ability to function effectively in life and make practical decisions well (at least some of the time, again, not expecting perfection here)
- To be honest and trustworthy when dealing with me
- To put up with my eccentricity and book habit

All of those are necessary but not sufficient on their own.  I require them all out of someone, or I'd rather not be in the relationship in the first place.

I'm talking about the basics and trying to keep it simple , Lushy. We do ok foraging for ourselves.

Irishknight -> RE: A question that's been asked millions of times... (6/11/2008 6:39:52 PM)

Hmmm .... I want a womman who knows her place.  She knows who she is and what her place is in the world.  Wait ... I have one like that.  I want a sub to go along with my Alpha female wife. .....
Grrrrr .... I want Oprah.  After all, she's every woman.

hizgeorgiapeach -> RE: A question that's been asked millions of times... (6/11/2008 6:42:42 PM)

That whole "who knows her place" thing treads a bit close to simply a "dominant" answer Irish.  I mean yeah, I guess when dealing with those (such as on this board) for whom their orientation is SUCH an issue for the vast majority - it's going to crop up and become a factor.

I Know there are no "simple" answers to this.  But the insight gained from multiple sources of honest input IS helpful.

How could I "know my place" When the requirements of my place is different with  everyone?
