Skully7000 -> What Type of classes would you like to see? (6/13/2008 6:06:39 PM)

with 1 down and several big events coming up in my future... I was curious:

What classes would you like to see/attend:

(serious and Funny answers welcome;)

and While i'm always up for learning and honing physical skills I ask that you be creative:
for example: Intro to Rope 101 is great... Rope Ties for escape artists is better!
cheers
Skully

Well, i'm always trying to learn more about doing medical stuff safely... catheterization, saline infusion, stapling, that kinda stuff...
Flesh hook suspension
Things to consider when setting up your own suspension rig (i.e., "i've pulled down the shower curtain rod... now what?")
i've thought for a while that it would be cool to have a DIY toy construction round table, both beginner and advanced... beginner to discuss "pervertables", advanced to discuss fabrication techniques, probably incorporating a show & tell

Anything Dossie Easton presents .
Anything Fifth Angel presents
Anything Midori shares .
I would love to see another JG Leathers  class .
Just about anything Lee Harrington  shares .
OK i can go on and on about the masses of great people , i am very much looking forward to seeing many  classes at Thunder .
I posted  some of the people of whom share what they know , to me its not so much the topics  but who is sharing and teaching .
Like "SlaveMaster " from vegas  he can give a class on how to make toast and it would be thought provoking .
I would like to see more energy  type classes and how to work with and use others perspectives  on that topic .
bummer i shall miss out on Jay Wiesmans classes this weekend , though i know there shall be other chances to attend .
I have also found  even if you know a lot about a topic and class which is being presented there is always that new way to approach , or view , or technique to be learned . So just because you think you know  a  lot about something  hearing another's take can also be refreshing and educational .

I have given and presented on the topic of toys , toy bags , and pervertables . They are some of my favs to give . I have also given a make and take toy workshops class , those are always a kick and people seem to love them too . And its fun to have something to take home  after the class . I love making people s creative juices flow .
I would also like to add a side note .. Support these wonderful people that take time out to share and teach by attending all the classes you can and if you have something to share , get involved in the community at large and do so .We all have something to teach  and there is always room for more learning .

One of the things I most often want to see is an in-depth class on building strong relationships.  Not relationship 101, not a one-true-way, but information that gets well beneath the surface.

Some of my favorite relationship classes are the ones that are more of a discussion group than a lecture.  I think it is the type of class that is really suited to hearing multiple people's perspective on how they make things work.

1. "Getting over yourself 101- how to figure out you are really only a small fish in a very big pond, rather than the other way round."

2. "It's  not a gift.-you have to work for a relationship that's good-no one is entitled to anything just for spewing out platitudes."

3. "The dom is NOT always right-a little humility can go a long ways."

Fat chance!  Most of the "relationship" stuff is geared toward poly or fast serial monogamy.  Kyra, people like YOU and KOM need to be giving those classes.  Unfortunately, as I was relating to someone this afternoon, couples (or long term stable relationships) often bail out of the scene and so are VASTLY underrepresented in the scene.  Thus when others like you emerge into the scene, they look around, see all these poly people or people for whom long term means a couple of years and they bail.

I agree that a panel for some of the deeper subjects can be more enlightening.

I would love to see Kids and Kink, how to do it so they don't know

Evility -> RE: What Type of classes would you like to see? (6/13/2008 7:55:59 PM)

I can't think of any. I can think of things I want to try or do or learn but I've pretty much learned everything I do on my own by reading and research and practice. I derive a considerable amount of satisfaction from doing things myself. Must be a throwback to my days of learning to play a musical instrument on my own in my youth.

Yeah, I know... 'wish in one hand, spit in the other' is what my dad used to say.

In regards to what you would love to see, Archer and Elegant have a class on that topic.  In fact it was one of the classes foremost in my mind when I said that the discussion aspect is the most enjoyable for me.  We have a little experience in that area (kink and poly in the same house) and it was good to hear how other people approached things.

Best wishes to both you and BSB.

I'd probably be interested in hearing from those who run some sort of brick and mortar kink related business. Leather shops, B&B's, dungeon spaces and things of that nature.

Got a point, or just whining again?

petdave -> RE: What Type of classes would you like to see? (6/13/2008 8:40:40 PM)

One more- Discreet Public BDSM (from protocol to invisible bondage/torments)
Oh, also- Breathplay. Everybody says "don't try it unless you know what you're doing"... but there's so much liability that i rarely see people sharing knowledge. That leaves learning by trial and error.
Also also- Advanced Mummification (demo bottom here! Hai! Volunteer! [image]http://www.collarchat.com/image/s1.gif[/image])

i guess it sounds like i'm only interested in the play aspect, but i just can't helping that relationships are too individual and complex to really give lessons on...

NumberSix -> RE: What Type of classes would you like to see? (6/13/2008 8:42:35 PM)

Ja, don't hold your breath on the choking class, K?
