ORIGINAL: Skully7000 with 1 down and several big events coming up in my future... I was curious: What classes would you like to see/attend: (serious and Funny answers welcome;) and While i'm always up for learning and honing physical skills I ask that you be creative: for example: Intro to Rope 101 is great... Rope Ties for escape artists is better! cheers Skully O, he he. Read the Op title and thought 'gee, i'd like to take yoga classes', lol. You mean 'classes on D/s topics', correct? Please bear with me, as i need to ask a few questions too. By 'class' do You mean 'demo'? Do D/s groups ever offer topics that are not directly related to play? For example, are classes ever offered on Safety Protocols or Finding Y/yr proper 'place' in D/s? i guess if all classes are demos, and all demos are on play topics only, i'd be interested in learning more about: Bondage -- light vs heavy; chains, leather or rope, using s'thing besides a bed -- like a piece of bondage furniture or a tree in a private outdoor setting. 'Sensation Play' -- assuming i understand what this means. Things like cupping, tickle torture, ice, etc. i hope this helps. pinksugarsub I'm sure groups do things differently around the world especially depending on the size of the group and location and such. while I use class as any situation where you are gathering in order to learn something. I will speak of TES only b/c its the largest group in my area and the one i'm involved most with(though I do make it to many other group events and lessons when I can) generally there are seminars and workshops. workshops are almost always hands on Techniques... ropes and whips being the two most common categories(each workshop will usually have a different focus... like "rope ties for sex" or "rope techniques to thwart an escape artist" etc etc. Seminars: can be a simple class, a demonstration(w/ or w/o audience participation) or sometimes a Q&A with one or more people(sometimes refered to as a panel) Sometimes the seminars take more of a Roundtable approach where the class is VERY interactive hoping to hear as much input and oppinion from the audience as they get questions.... ************************* so with all that said: not all classes are Demos...There are many different formats to a class. take your pick... Yes I have seen classes on "protocol" it spent a good amount of time differentiating between courtesy, Respect, decorum, and Protocol... then the class went on to talk about "protocol" within the individual relationships. and why living in a HIGH protocol 24/7 long term, while possible, is rather unrealistic... and how to set up different protocol levels so that everyone can live an happy healthy life together while still getting the most out of the relationship.. but what I love is that with these types of classes, the biggest thing they try to accomplish is OPENING your mind to different things you haven't thought of while fostering a healthy relationship. there is no one TWUE way...
