Status: offline 		Happy Father's Day for those of you that are dads.  I bought my dad a liter of Crown Royal (it's his favorite.)  What did y'all get?

It's not as bad as some would think.

I haven't spoken to mine since 1991, and I'm enormously pleased about it

You know Griswold, I understand.  My dad and I fight like cats and dogs.  We don't agree on anything.  I have actually got into fist fights with him.  But he's still my dad, and I love him.  He's 65, and I still make a point to go by and mow his lawn once a week.

Status: offline 		My own Dads deceased and I'll be seperated from my 19 y/o for the first time in his life.Caught me unawares just how that would affect me till this evening.Thought about hopping on I95 and driving 500 miles just to have dinner with him tomorrow(in New York)Thankfully he talked me in off the ledge,he's allways been smarter than his father .We will get together next month,when it's more convienant for both of us....Tomorrow will suck

Status: offline 		My father is an aspiring writer. He has sold 2 or 3 articles in the 3 digit payment range. His best friend bought him a copy of the writers market at the begining of the year, so i bought him a subscription to writers' digest. hope he makes more sales!

Status: offline 		I'm afraid my father died years ago.  But my partner is my daddy and we have a ritual where I take him out to Denny's for a special meal and wear my "Daddy's Little Girl" tshirt. (yeah can you believe it?  I have rituals!)

For his father, I baked some chocolate chip muffins.

You know, there is only one thing you have to worry about, and that is if what you believe makes you feel comfortable.

My personal opinion is that as long as you live a good life, I doubt if you will be punished for your beliefs.

Just let the spirits guide your journey and nothing will go wrong.

His loss really, he has not met his grandkids or his great grandkids.....

which reminds me, I really should put a few of those pics up, I mean, it might make greedy think I am less evil

My father is a retired Army colonel.  My dad called me a pussy when I dropped out of ROTC.  I told him to go fuck himself, and I told him what I thought of the government.  I fought with him for two hours when I said that.  I got into a fist fight with him after my grandmother's funeral.  He was being a prick, and I punched him.  My mother called the cops. 

My father pulled a gun on me once during an argument.   I pulled my own gun, and my mother intervened.  If I can make amends with my dad, anyone can.

Status: offline 		my dad and i haven't been close for 37 years.  won't go into what changed me from daddy's little girl to who i am now, it involved something he did to my mother i can never forgive.  dad was gone for a long time when i was born, he was still in the navy for almost two yrs after i was born so it was me and mom for a long time.  when he hurt her he put a wall up between us that will never come down.  i'll wish him a happy day, but we don't get all mushy or anything.  don't think i've hugged him in years, probably since his dad died.

you are wrong, there are some people that cant make ameds with thier fathers, because of the shit they did to them growing up

good side is, you can be a better father than they were :)

Status: offline 		My Dad died ten years ago. We never talked much towards the end. Truth is we never talked when i tried to he put barriers up. I have no idea why.
Still to this day i have no idea. I never had a close relationship with him and the last time i had to go into the Hospital for a test. He drove me there and stayed with me. The Nurse commented that we were very quiet and he said that we don't get along. To be honest i gave up on him long ago. He was a functioning alcoholic and not very pleasant to be around. I have seen a co-worker relationship with his daughter and it just totally amazes me. Makes me wish i had that growing up. They say the most important man in a girls life is her Father. I wish.....many, many things...
It's odd we were very close up until i hit puberty. I understand why he pushed me away but it still HURT...It still does..

To all the Fathers have a Happy Father's Day. Make sure you let your children know that YOU LOVE THEM. Give them hugs even and kisses.

I never got that only criticism. I know that had a lot to do with what i feel like today. Totally worthless..That is something i am still working on today...self esteem..

If i can face it i hope to go to my parents grave to give him flowers. I recently lost my Mom within this last year. I couldn't bear to go on Mother's day the feelings are still too raw.
