some of the stalls would prolly think it was reasonable to charge a grand for a bit of fluff and diamante We were both brasic for BBB last sunday .. so we went with imaginary £1000 .. and had to decide how we would spend it Missy is a bad girl and blew hers all on the first 3 stalls I was good and kept £400 back to buy my next plane ticket!

I agree that a sub/slave ought to keep themselves clean and looking good,, I do have to say that a great deal of that cost (what was listed) is far above what the majority spend in a year. Very possible that her taste runs far above what the vast majority of the rest of us here have.

I know that if I was not earning an outside income it would be because I was assisting him in his business and my assistance generated more income for him to offset the lack of income I'd be earning.

i've been very conservative since my divorce with money. raising 2 kids is expensive and i tend to put the money towards bills and the kids needs. in 2 months i will have zero debt, i've worked my ass off to not get into debt and to pay off the unavoidable stuff that has come up. i've never had my nails done or my hair professionally colored, never had a wax job and i'm lucky if i spend 50 bucks a month on clothing. in talking with my dominant about when i move in with him, he tells me about the manicures and other things i will be getting etc....it is a foreign idea for me, i'm just not used to it. i am greatful that he wants to splurge on things for me and i'm sure i'll eventually get used to it...probably sooner than later lol. he tells me the things he wants to provide for me and i respect that that is his wish for me, but i would never require that someone pay for "things" for me, no matter who they are.

I think the cost of owning a slave/submissive could be looked at from another perspective as well. Based off your original post, and not factoring in the million other scenarios that could take place, I'd assume that your contribution to being "kept" would entail more than looking pretty? If you were not working, it seems reasonable to me you would be active in other areas. A live-in housekeeper isn't cheap. Neither is a Personal Assistant, Shopper, Chef/Cook, Gardner, Courtesan/Companion/Whore etc. Ok, you probably wouldn't be doing gardening, I hear it is hell on manicured nails. Still, a good submissive who can/does all the above would seem a bargain at twice the price. Then again, I could be going about this whole concept completely from the wrong perspective. To answer the orginal post, how do people afford it? I imagine those that do afford it, do so by prioritizing and budgeting the same way any of us afford to live in the manner we choose.

To rent a place big enough for all of us rent would be between $1000 and $2500. or a similar mortgage payment. There is a reason I refuse to give up my job for anyone. I like the security of working, plus who the heck could afford to keep me at home sitting on my butt?

I'm at a point in my life where I can afford a few little luxuries for myself. But I haven't always been. As long as basic needs are met, I don't require anything extra. It's not a good place to be in when you can't meet your basic needs. I've never wanted to be in a house that was so "grand" that you felt as though you couldn't live in it. I've never wanted to be "made up" to the point I looked fake and bought. I could certainly see myself being staying home and taking care of my Dom, family, and home. But then I can do that along with working and contributing financially just as I do now.

Wow, I had to look through this whole thread before stopping. i have bucked against the idea of being a stay at home sub. My Daddy always wanted me to take care of me, it wasn't because I wanted him to but it was because he wanted to. I own a house in another state and so I was told if i wanted it i could work to keep it.... I have been looking at what some people cost....and I was once called high maintence.....so i broke it down Hair cut, colour and style = $12.85 w/taxes I color it once every 3 months to hide my evil genetics (gray hair @ 25 eeek!) I am lucky to have easily styled curly hair so tie back! Nail Extensions = Maybe.....$10 .....Mom does them for me or work has me doing so much hands on stuff to have them would be dumb Waxing (full body) = $84 Only have my eyebrows threaded once a month X 12 months Clothing / footwear = $400 all year..... i shop like twice a year when everything is on clearance and i feel i am the queen of bargains Books = $5 ....I like getting random books from the Goodwill and stuff Food = about $600.......I do the angelfood ministries so that keeps food costs down....milk....bread....occasional yogurt..... Mortgage and all - $800 a month........ ------------ Little more than $900 a month......Holy Crap! That's it!

Scottish to the bone-it's in the blood. I pinch pennies until they bleed. Luxuries are not a part of my world. And I am always cynical about people who claim to need needless things-from others.
