Clothing / footwear = lol... I have a closet full of clothes and shoes that hardly get worn as it is. I've also 35+ years of experience sewing so I'm perfectly capable of making my own clothes when needed. If I had to guess, I'd say over a year's time I spend the average of maybe $25 per month. Books = I have a library of literally tens of thousands of electronic books at my disposal, and I received a beautiful new Palm for my birthday from Firm on which to read them. ;) Cost each month to occasionally recharge my Palm... maybe 25 cents. Food = Of course I spend more now that I'm cooking for Firm, too, but when I was on my own I'd say I probably spent $75 a week on groceries... and that included staples such as soap, shampoo, bathroom tissue, etc. So, I'll say $300 per month. Total = $333.50 lol... I bet he wishes those were the only expenses involved with keeping me.

An equal partner, proved by the fact that if she was taken away from the other side of our relationship scale my side would drop like a stone.

For Me, owning a 24/7 live in submissive or slave is what I want most out of this life. But I'm not as stupid as I look, I worked out a long time ago how hard it'd be, for one thing You have to have a home that a submissive or slave would be happy to live-it has to be warm, nice to look at, clean, neat and tidy and have a constantly available supply of hot and cold water and food. There are her "maintainace" costs-food, clothing, transport, health care issues. What about if I'm not in and she's done all the things I've given her to do-how would she entertain herself?, the answer is she needs to be in a fun environment either,somewhere she can go out and do something, or have things to keep her happy at home. If My life stays the mess it's in right now it'll never happen lol.

I must be a terrible sub! I pay for all of my own maintenance and would not consider not working outside of the home unless it was because I had the financial security not to have to. (Just in case of death/relationship breakdown etc. - I have a dependant daughter and could not put her in the position of being financially unstable it would be unacceptable to me as a parent). I don't have nice nails, I colour and cut (or don't bother cutting more often) my own hair, I own clothes I've had for around 10 years (not all of which still fit as well as they did when I bought them LOL) and rarely buy new ones, when my Master and I buy new equipment/toys I always go halves with him and sometimes I treat him to new items (although I'm regretting buying him a new riding crop it hurts like a bastard!) Although the fantasy of being kept and being able to spend my time servicing his needs and making sure I was presentable in his opinion etc. has some appeal and the 24/7 slave girl game is something we play when we are able to (when my daughter is being looked after by her father for example) and the headspace I am in at the time is awesome I just can't see it being something I really could do 24/7. But as always - other people's mileage and preferences vary.

Can't argue with anything you've said so I wont lol. You're absolutely right about the need for any children to be totally safe,happy,secure,well, comfortable etc. Children are the most important things and I'd never consider compromising their physical or emotional health, I was thinking in terms of a submissive or slave without children, if they had children though. comfort, a safe environment, warmth, etc. would be even more important I think. As far as you supporting yourself, I don't have a problem with a submissive or slave who wants to support themselves, in fact I'd encourage it and help in any way I could to make it happen, I was just thinking in terms of how hard it'd be to be the one doing the supporting. But I might try to buy you some new clothes once in a while ;).

Actually Master has bought me two outfits and I did buy some underwear (at less than half of it's original price) specifically for him the other day as I knew he'd love me in it, so I have got some current clothing - but I have just checked in the last year I've only purchased 1 hooded top, 2 pairs of work trousers and 1 pair of shoes brand-new, the rest is either second-hand or has come from someone else who no longer wanted it or changed their mind after purchasing it. i had a rather large debt due to life circumstance and not frivilous spending. i felt it my responsibility to get that debt paid off before i could consider myself available for ownership. i worked for 2 years non-stop double nursing shifts and sometimes private nursing jobs to pay that debt off. it is now paid in full. my current monthly monetary needs are about $1200 a month. this includes rent, utilities, transportation and incidentals. keep in mind i live in one of the most expensive county's in the US, Orange County. so i am doing really well on keeping costs down. it is not my nature to need the latest greatest in anything. i am more inclined towards practicalities with occasional over the top luxuries. (5 star hotels, room service, exquiste meals, spa treaments, that just have to have piece of clothing.) i pay for that now on my own and it is not something i would expect if owned. it really does not matter that much to me just things i like. if it were in my future to be owned and his preference were that i don't work outside of the home, the month to month maintance for this slave would be determined by Master. however, i do have 2 requests that i would like seriously considered. health insurance and to be allowed to dye my hair. since, i have learned to do it myself, the cost is about $5.95 per month.

I haven't included rent / mortgage as i don't pay to live where i do. Accomodation is included with my job. I haven't included medical costs as in the Uk we have the national health service, but i know in USA it is privately paid for. I've probably also missed some pretty basic stuff off, but you get the gist. Now if i was to give up my work etc for a Dom / Domme and be totally dependent on him / her it would be on the basis that i still am provided for in the style i provide for myself. I will say at this point that i do not think, im 99% certain that i could never give my career up and be dependent on someone else. Im far too independent for that. Would my provisal be unreasonable? I don't think so but i'm sure there are others here who would disagree. Anyway i'm just wondering (and im pretty sure this has been asked before), how on earth do people fund others lives? If you are extremely rich or well paid i can see it, but what about those in normal every day jobs who aren't so well off? So for those who do it, how do you support yourself and your subs /slaves?
