when youre with someone you trust completely the vulnerability isnt about fear its about letting everything go, every inhibition, every hangup every last corner of your physical and emotional self - its just about letting go - its giving every last bit of control and personal responsiblity to your D.

i don't see vulnerability as a negative or equal to weakness at all.  What often doesn't get mentioned is the vulnerability of the Dominant, especially when He has His submissive blindfolded, tied, etc. when He exposes the darker workings of His mind.  A Dominant is not a stone.  He also trusts completely, letting go of inhibitions, hang-ups, and the like.   It is a shared experience, a shared vulnerability, an exchange; it is intimacy.

..thats an excellent point! -

ive had a few emails from newbie D/types sharing fantasies and asking me if i thought they were just too much/weird etc - but i wonder if that vulnerability is something that never actually goes away, even in a long standing relationship, if there are deeper, darker places they would like to go, but by going there or even suggesting it they expose themselves maybe too much for comfort.

and when they have their subbie trussed up and blindfold are they vulnerable by doing the things they do, expressing themselves through play and by showing that darker side.  its a side noone else experiences with them, its private and must be evolving as we evolve.

thanks, id never really thought about it like that
