It's been about 8 years since I was in a D/s relationship.

Mmmm yes. Going on over 8 years. We are not day to day in physical proximity but we do see each other.

Exactly two weeks from now I will be getting ready to fly down to him again.

Status: offline 		Hi all.... i'm in a full time, real life relationship with my Mistress and i see Her - or at the very least speak with Her - every day.   W/we've been together for over a year, with many more years to come.

Since Mistress is straight and i'm not, many people assume the lack of intimacy between us must cause problems.   It doesn't but, with Her kind permission, i'm on here seeking another woman for a real life relationship so those needs are satisfied.   If Mistress had not suggested it and given permission for me to look though, things would have carried on just as happily for us, as it is my submission to Her which gives me pleasure and not sex, so the lack of sex between us is no barrier.

Not so dear faery! Definitely not so. You are so, so wrong!

I have both sorts (currently) and they are both, in their different ways, extraordinarily rewarding.

Think "being friends" not "being lovers". Then think how wonderfully close a friendship can be if it includes bdsm play as well! To have a friend who trusts you to, wants you to, tie her up and beat her! To hold her close after (during) play and know what it is you've shared! Sheesh - how close is that!  

I'd say that on a scaled basis, where acquaintance is 1, friend is 2, close friend is 3 and lover is 4, that a bdsm friend is firmly a 4 too. Different dynamics; something to treasure highly.
