Sometimes you read some responses here about people's bdsm experiences and those responses tell you that beyond a shadow of a doubt that the person has never actually participated in whatever it is that they just made up this huge and detailed fabricated story about. It seems to me that if they are wanting to pull the wool over someone's eyes, they would choose a forum where there isn't a possibility that anyone would be any the wiser. Yet they come here where there are many people actually engaging in these activities and do know what they are talking about. I don't really understand why people do this...don't they realize their transparency? Don't they realize they make themselves look ridiculous? And some of them are here searching for a partner....what an impression they make...

Because they are wankers, and assume that everything happens just like in the porns?

I dunno.

People are stupid.

What she said.

Plus they get off hugely articulating their fantasy.

In any Internet website that is geared towards BDSM and allows free posting of thoughts and experiences, etc, you'll come across both those who have experience, and those who do not.  And then there are those who fake experiences.  There is no such thing as a website created just for people who can post fake experiences.  What would it be called?  www.fakebdsmers.com?  Nobody in their right mind would even go to a site like that cause they know its fake then.  So we 'real' people get to sit back and grin and have a private laugh at those who post things that obviously could never really happen.

Honestly, I don't think they care about any transparency or looking ridiculous...  my feel from most such has been that this (and similar) sites just aren't about that sort of thing to them.  Like those that post the Listen While I Inform You messages, it's not about the other people here; it's about "hearing themselves talk" and online role-playing for fun or kink.

It doesn't matter if someone else has really done and does X, Y, and Z and knows they're making things up, they got their roleplay enjoyment.

I've been accused of posting a few 'Listen While I Inform You' posts.

If I can't post from My own experience and point of view, why bother at all?

That's the whole point of CM, isn't it? Sharing one's POV?

Yea, you know, I would love to hear some of these stories from people. I have one to start. I met a girl at a Munch the other month (who's name rhymed with a body fluid) who told us an improbable tale of a time when she unconcentually tied her date up with electrical wires she pulled out of the outlet, and the proceded to beat/pork his brains out. Everyone at the table was like "you just did all that to some random dude with no negotiation?...... sure, right". This wasnt the only  fake signal she gave off, but no one took her seriously at all after that. I'm sure there are even better stories our there.

Some of those stories are so Entertaining at times.  I don't know, I have read some things that simply make me wonder at times about people.

There is only so far I can humanly relate to some posts that it's not funny.  Think there is a good share of Entertainment that simply goes on here at times.

There are also some very sincere people making great posts here.

There's a lot of people writing crazy off the wall things every day be it on the message boards or in response to peoples profiles.  Hell, some of the profiles are just as Entertaining to read at times.

I think in many ways, some of these posts and people write actually end up confusing newbies a bit.   Where they think, Wow... this is for real.

I thnk there are a number of people who make posts and point the wankers out, or at least bitch slap them around into reality.

I totally agree with you on this.  However some people make those POSTS and well they just seem a bit out to lunch.  More like Trolling for Pussy Ads to impress all the subbie girls and posture themselves a little more.

I think everybody does this from time to time, but there comes a point.  When you read 8 threads started in one day, all with the "Listen while I inform you" tone. Well, it really does NOT feel or seem like much of a Discussion, when no questions are posed for thought.

Just annoying reading things from those who pretend they've done it, when they haven't.  They shouldn't be afraid of a backlash from the experienced.

Unless they're fake... [no explaination needed *eye roll*]

As a serious reply to the thread.  (Sorry for the others.)

I really do believe that, in some cases, it's the only way for the person to express themselves.  What I mean is, we know they are full of crap, and they know they are full of crap, but there's something that prevents them from doing these things, rather than being full of crap.

There are a lot of things out there that put people in the position of wanting, rather than doing.  They have their own fears, situations, lack of ability and opportunity.  Maybe, in a way, coming to a board like this, is their way of taking a first step, or realizing that they don't want to take that step at all.

I think it's an impossible question to answer, without knowing the person behind the keyboard.

I agree.  And if it's something I don't believe, I don't give it my energy.  I'm pretty indifferent to it.

I used to think like that.
NO WAY, god what an idiot!  Everyone knows that is just lame and it couldnt wouldnt shouldnt be done!.. then dismiss them as the clueless online people whose sole experience was in chat.  And then..
I met people who make me know,
NO WAY, god what an idiot!  Everyone knows that is just lame and it couldnt wouldnt shouldnt be done!..
We like to think people are reasonable, logical, and in control but a lot of them get into the fantasy of this stuff and they believe that is what is supposed to happen.  They do stupid shit.  They accept ridiculous posturing because that is what they were taught to think.
Yeah it appears I am being judgemental and I am.  But the judgement lies in my assessment of what I see happening around me.  I wouldn't do that for myself and I don't care that others do dumb shit either.  LOL I say let them, I am not mommy, nor guide, nor role model.  Let them be and they will either find what they do satisfies them, or they will run for the hills screaming "he/she is unsafe!"
The one thing I have learned is just because I find some things fantastical doesnt mean that someone isnt out there trying it, believing it, and crowing about it as a badge of honor.

Apparently only if it fits comfortably into the definition of "reasonable and customary". I don't understand why anyone bothers to be concerned about something they think is a fabrication. I see posts from time to time from accepted forum regulars talking about their real D/s lives and I think they're full of shit. I don't wring my hands over it and don't know why anyone else would.

Once upon a time, I followed a friend to a small corner of the internet, new to us both, so as to keep an eye on her and ensure her safety.  [I'm protective of my friends, to a degree, you see.]  I poked about for a day or two, examining the various toys and widgets and doodads this heretofore unknown corner of the internet displayed.  I shunned some parts, found a niche for myself, and waded in.

Since then, I've lost the friendship that drew me to this strange little corner; and the girl I walked in with has walked out.  In her place, I met someone else, mainly through my various rants, outrageous flirtations, and a brief but furious period of time in which I passed out several photographs of myself.  [Call it carthasis - I've never considered myself attractive, quite the opposite - but if I gave in to the social experiment I could see through the eyes of other people, and perhaps not be so hard on myself.  The experiment was rather enlightening.]  In fact, this new lady has found the nerve to pack up and travel 2000 miles to live with me.  Go fig.

Outrageous, I know.
