Answer 1: No.

Answer 2: WTF??????

Answer 3: GT is a friend of mine in real life.  We'll call each other anything we want to.  She said, on this thread, that she prefers "femdom" to "domme."  She switches -- again, in real life.

Answer 4: If you were joking, please include a smiley face at the end of your sentence next time, so overliteral dopes like me will recognize it as humor.

GT How do you feel about this arrangement?

Steel

GreedyTop -> RE: the word Domme (7/3/2008 4:22:13 PM)

works for me!  *grin*

RedMagic1 -> RE: the word Domme (7/3/2008 4:23:53 PM)

I've never scened with a man present.  You're one of the few I'd consider, Steel, because my impression is there's a strong connection between what you say and what you do.  I don't know what a "male sponge" is, but if you'd describing a cuckoldish scene, it won't be including me.

My general rule is not to do anything with more than one person, unless I know at least one of the people superwell.  I don't really do any of this stuff to "have fun."  I do it to deepen personal relationships that already exist.

LOL... I just looked at his profile.  I so understand why this was posted now.

First of all, I'll admit that I haven't read to the end of this thread yet.  That being said:
Generally, I try not to pick on people when they post, having been on the receiving end myself.  On this occassion, however, I must agree with Lockit.  She got my curiosity up and I simply HAD to perv his profile.  It looks as if this is his last act of defiance after an unsuccessful stay at Collarme.  Good luck my friend!  I have a feeling you may need it.

It doesn't bother me much, but I am curious why we need to denote gender in dominants but not submissives.

This is an excellent point.  I'd really never given it much thought before.

The offensisensitivity on display was pretty amusing:  [sm=rofl.gif]next time you might want to consider doing a fuzzy search on a new term or usage so you don't again jump to incorrect and rude conclusions such as WTF!  [sm=soapbox.gif]  [sm=sm.gif]

Will I use smileys after every double entendre?[sm=hellno.gif]    I find them LOUD and DISTRACTING.

But it did amuse me for this . . .

and I'm glad the joke was eventually received in the tone intended. [sm=oddballs.gif]

[sm=doh.gif]   Apology accepted!

Where have you been? Some of us have missed you greatly!!!!!!!!!!![:)]

DreamyLadySnow -> RE: the word Domme (7/5/2008 10:29:54 AM)

The words D'oh and woot never used to be considered words but are now in the dictionary, due to common usage. That's where words come from and why we're able to use more words than just "ugh" and "guh" or whatever the cave people said.

autumnstar -> RE: the word Domme (7/10/2008 6:25:13 PM)

"Domme" may be a relatively new addition to our lexicon, and as with "Domina" it should be acknowledged as such; though as a quasi-French derivative, it really should be pronounced as Dom, with the 'me' silent.  It makes me cringe when I hear the sheer ignorance of "Dom-MAY" coming from the mouths of otherwise seemingly intelligent people.  It makes me want to smack people up and down and left and right until they are able to pronounce it with class.

Wickad -> RE: the word Domme (7/10/2008 10:02:06 PM)

(fast reply)

Greetings,

"Dom-AYE" drives me around the bend.  If you (the collective 'you') must use the word Domme, please pronounce it correctly.  As others have stated this would be "Dom" with the 'me' being silent.

My own personal preference is to be referred to as a Dominant or a Dominant 'woman' if clarity is needed.  When addressing me directly I prefer Ms. or Ma'am to Mistress.  Everyone has their own preferences and if someone is seeking to make a good impression then it behooves them to learn said person's preferences.
