Admit it, there's a movie or two or three out there that just makes you cry and sob  - which one makes you break out the big box of Kleenex?

There are others for me but most recently was The Mighty.

GreedyTop -> RE: Are you crying?? (7/1/2008 7:37:59 PM)

Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatos, Tems of Endearment

Kalista07 -> RE: Are you crying?? (7/1/2008 7:40:26 PM)

The 2nd Narnia movie....Like seriously sobbing....Like needing to go to the car and sob, sobbing....

I completely embarassed myself when I saw Beaches. And GT, Fried Green Tomatoes, the book, is even sadder.

Where the Red Fern Grows gets me every time I read it. As for movies...I remember crying the first time I watched Pearl Harbor, and probably did when I first watched Titanic.

The Notebook.
Somewhere in Time.
My Life.

edited cuz I forgot about Titanic!

GreedyTop -> RE: Are you crying?? (7/1/2008 7:51:41 PM)

yeah.. I cried at Titanic too.. the scenes of the families as the ship sank...

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Are you crying?? (7/1/2008 7:57:07 PM)

Legends of the Fall was sad.  Everyone dies in that movie.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest was extremely sad.

Old Yeller! Definite tear jerker...

The suicide scene in "An Officer and a Gentleman" - heartbreaking

and

Flight of the Intruder - the part where Tiger Cole (Willem DaFoe) calls the Sandy's to drop on him while he lights his last cigarette...

fungasm -> RE: Are you crying?? (7/1/2008 8:10:24 PM)

My Life Without Me.

It broke my heart.

lighthearted -> RE: Are you crying?? (7/1/2008 8:11:05 PM)

"Romeo and Juliet"...the one with Olivia Hussey.  "Awakenings" is another...and any movie based on a true story where there's suffering involved.  I turn into a big sloppy mess!

slaveboyforyou -> RE: Are you crying?? (7/1/2008 8:12:50 PM)

Oh I forgot that Meg Ryan movie where she plays an alcoholic.  OMG that movie is sad.  Old Yellar is definitely one, and so is Where the Red Fern Grows.  I read that book when I was in the 5th grade, and I wanted to cry my little eyes out when the dogs die.

I loved that, too.

Recently I cried my eyes out in Sex in the City, because of the friendships in the movie. They reminded me of the girls I hang out with.

"When a Man Loves a Woman"

Reaching into the archives, one of the saddest movies I ever saw was "Days of Wine and Roses", with Jack Lemon and Lee Remick.  Wow.

kittinSol -> RE: Are you crying?? (7/1/2008 8:17:57 PM)

West Side Story and Sophie's Choice.

MySweetSubmssive -> RE: Are you crying?? (7/1/2008 8:20:27 PM)

I will cry at the drop of a hat if I think no one is looking.  I went to see "Run, Fatboy, Run" a few months ago and cried during the marathon scene.  Anything. Everything ...

Mss

I never saw Old Yeller but I know I would be sobbing my eyes out.  I'll have to check out Flight of the Intruder.

I think we love the emotional release of some of these sad sad movies.

I agree with Flight of the Intruder, I would also add, 12 O'clock High, Ladder 49, Back Draft, Henry V (after discovering the massacre of the boys in the camp,) the mini-series Shogun, Casablanca, We Were Soldiers (Madaline Stowe delivering all the telegrams,) Hamburger Hill when Doc bought his farm.
