This just highlights the fact the republicans are trying the same tactics as they did in the last election to turn the debate away from the real issues and solely into a personality and integrity issue. Then someone could easily argue that a good leader is willing to change his point of view on issues rather than just keep going down the wrong route, he knows deep down to be wrong, in the hope of looking consistent at the end of a terrible period in history.  We usually place high value in those willing to evolve and learn they aren’t always right but for some reason a political leader is only given credit for being consistent even if they are consistently wrong.

IMOSHO.

He'll never be as bad as BUSH & Co. Ideological rigidity is not a virtue. Being too "centrist" isn't the worst thing in the world either.

Besides, Obama inherits a weakened Presidency: huge budget deficit, two occupational (Iraq and Afghanistan) nightmares, and a large scale recession which seems to be picking up steam.

Why? Because some GOP hacks say he is?Lol What a bunch of whiney losers.

McSame needs something that resembles a campaign, soon,or we`ll hear more lame, meaningless claims like that one.

A flipflop means you were for something, then against it,or against, then for.

Like Mcflip-flop on torture ,on tax cuts for the wealthy,or abortion and illigal imagration.

McCain’s flourishing flip-flop list

The problem is that the GOP has painted it`s into the corner in describing Mr.Obama as a super liberal,a radical leftist gay-man kissing,3rd trimester abortion having, hummus eating vegan that loves Islam.

Where do you go when that brilliant "strategery" fails?

They apparently haven`t been doing their opposition research or any research at all on Mr. Obama.

They don`t know that he`s a centrist and always has been. They seem surprised to find out that he`s got a record of working together with conservatives.

They want to make him out to be something he`s not and they`re swallowing their own hype/BS on who and what he is.

Most folks don`t see Mr Obama as the boogie man the GOP wants to portray.

This childish whine from republicans is the result having no ideas of issues to run on.Good good luck w/ the new "strategery".

Look.  Assuming Barry is given the nomination, he is going to have a major hurdle from day one.  Some percentage of normally solid, reliable, Democrat party voters WILL NOT vote for him under any circumstances because he is black.  They might vote for a yellow dog with a "D" next to the name, but not a black one.  It might not fit the talking point that all the rascists are Republicans, but it is the reality.

Those votes are going to have to be made up somewhere.  The idealist left/progressive folk had better wake up and get used to shutting up very quickly when Obama reaches out for the votes he will need to actually win.  Yes, Jon Stewart, he is going to break your heart.  Get over it.

O59, this is going to scare the Hell out of you, maybe.  I'm exactly the sort of voter Obama now has to woo.  The people that brought him this far don't matter anymore.

Who cares the stupid people of this nation didn't do their research before the primaries.  It's too late now anyway.  We're not voting him in.  Nor are we voting McCain in.  About the only thing we have left to see is how pathetic both of them are.
Both Obama and McCain have both flopped more than a fish out of water already.  They will continue to do so to get votes of the delegates.

Obama isn't qualified to carry her briefcase. On November 4th. McCain will be the next President, I think by a landslide. It might be a repeat of Reagan/Mondale...

C-o-n-d-o-l-e-e-z-a....i'm not her greatest fan politically, but i think she at least deserves to have her name spelled correctly.  i honestly think McCain would make a better president than she ever could.  Just my humble opinion.

It's the way the game is always played. Once you get past primaries, where you play to the base, you enter the general election, and have to move to the center in order to gain the maximum of the swing vote.

Things that will work in Obama's favor.

1) voting age kids smell the draft in the air. If McCain gets in, they can flush their lives goodbye to support President "Botch's" pack of lies. So they are motivated to vote, and to vote Democratic in huge numbers.

2) A vast number of "Dittoheads" have become disillusioned. Realizing that having a permanent GOP majority would NOT have led to the "conservative utopia" they were promised, but rather a near dictatorship, they will swing back toward the center.

3) The average American is seeing the quagmire in Iraq, homes being forclosed on, gas spiralling out of control, jobs being lost by the tens of thousands... recession... and the fact that the rich are STILL getting richer, and they (the middle income folk) are being pushed off a cliff... They are motivated to try something different.

4) McCain is old (really old), and has a temper. He has been called, by several commentators, the "You kids get off my lawn!" candidate.

5) Everyone with half a brain can see how much McCain has changed since his earlier run for office. "The Straight Talk Express" has become an inside joke.

Things that will work for McCain...

1) He was shot down and was tortured. Americans love to vote for a war hero.

2) He has a rich, smokin' hot wife.

3) He has the wealth of relying on the last 8 years of GOP successes to bouy him up. With such a popular President in office as "Junior," how could he lose?

Uh, let's see... several publications, ranging form conservative to liberal to non-partisan rank barak hussien obama as the MOST liberal member of the senate. That's not exactly being a "centerist".

And where did you get that piece of doggy poop from?

Bill Clinton was supposedly the "MOST" liberal guy when he ran.lol,Gore was called the "most" liberal senator, etc, etc.lol

John Kerry?Guess what, all of a sudden when he ran,he was the "MOST" liberal senator, blah, blah, blah.

Now it`s Mr, Obama, the mostest liberalest member of the senate.

Boy,that was hard to see come`n....

And why was Hillary the "MOST" liberal member, recently?

This sounds like a broken record,......again......
