As to Old Guard or Gorean? It depends on the audience's perceptions and experiences.
I would define fear as being emotion driven and respect as being more mental.
If an individual causes the hair on the back of my neck to stand up, then I pay attention
to that physical reaction and avoid them. Always trust your instincts!
And when someone shows themselves to be an honest, dependable person, worthy of respect; that is a good basis for a relationship, whether that be a friendship or something more intimate.
