The primary reason I am looking for someone younger is because I have actually thought it might be nice to have kids around the house again.

And the funny thing is that five years ago, the fact that I was a busted up old cowboy was considered 'romantic' by a good number of girls in the same age bracket.

As for the movie with the crystal that blinked when you turned 30 it was Logan's Run, with Michael York and Farrah Fawcett Majors.

Thank you for answering my question - I phrased that a little bluntly.  Unfortunately, as you age, the women who may be attracted to you will age up as well....just something you may need to think about.

That would be Logan's Run, circa 1976.

There was a movie, from the 70's probably, where the little crystal on your palm changed color and started blinking when you got old...30 I think.  Then they carted you into a big dome and then obliterated you with a laser.  Anyone else remember that movie?

And in the original book, the upper age limit was 21.

Yeah, Logan's Run. I guess it's being remade by the same guy who did the Transformers movie. (It'll probably suck) I remember being really turned on as a kid by the chase through the "Love Shop."

The "Don't trust anyone over 30 was a motto of the 60's counterculture. In the movie, that was taken to it's illogical extreme, and became "life ends at 30."

jlf1961,

I think that these younger girls coming to you for advice are either seeking someone "safe" to confide in or they need a fatherly presence in their life.  If you find a younger woman who likes a paternal, older man, then the scenario will become easier.  You may not be wealthy, but it sounds like you can provide stability, which is something many people seek.

Somehow, that word stability brings to mind a line out of a John Wayne movie, where a much younger woman got next to him during the night because he was 'comfortable.'

I admire the diplomatic tactic of bluntness.  Beating around the bush usually gets people more confused.

And, as I said, I would not mind having kids around the place again.  I have the chance to buy the neighbor's property which is all pasture, and that means I can once more have horses around.

And a laughing child riding a horse is a wonderful sight.

The OP described himself as a "broken down cowboy". An injured cowboy, ok thats still sexy. Bloody and wounded and stuff. But to me "broken down" implies far more work than a younger woman or even one of my own age wants to take on.
Guess I'm too immature to get old.
Think*

And Young at heart.

Well, when I say broken down, I am referring to the simple fact that I use a cane to walk, and on cold mornings, it takes a bit more to motivate the legs into moving.  Other than that everything works fine.

OK well since you say you appreciate bluntness jlf, Im gonna take ya up on it... Mzbehavin is dead on, you gotta start selling yourself bettter - ya know as in "accentuate the positive". I mean I dont know if there is any truth to this - but various women I have dated, fucked , or married have told me that Im not perfect... I cant imagine that being possible, but assuming there is even a grain of truth to it youre better off being confident and letting them sort out whether your broken down or not....  The whole "Im just a broken down ol cowboy" might get ya laid in Gilleys but that burned down and moved to Dallas.

I mean this in the utmost sincerity JLF, so please dont take it as an attack. Theres a reason I pick up the 19 - 22 crowd... For one thing cause I can relate to them and I can have fun with them cause I am a 40 year old juvenile delinquient who refuses to grow up... Do you know who Avril Lavigne is? Would ya be willling to go to one of her concerts with a 20 year old wearing a tank top and neck tie? Willing to be in an environment that is louder than an aircraft carrier flight deck while screaming such profound lyricas as "So much for my happy ending" or "Hey Hey You You I dont Like Your Girlfriend" till youre hoarse? Do you know what Paris Hiltons dogs name is? Who are the four women on Sex in the City?  Ever watched "The Real World" ?  Do ya drive a car with T-tops and if so would ya be ok with her standing on the seat dancing and drinking beer while youre driving too fast? Would you be ok with a drunk 20 year old puking in your saltwater reef tank? How about two of them drinking beer while loudly singing and panty dancing / ass bumping on your front lawn? How many times can you watch Borat and still laugh? When it comes to the young fillys, beware what you wish for you just might get it....

If your goal is to have a young lady riding a horse around your pasture then adopt one, dont date one LOL. Seriously watch Footloose and decide if you want to date the preachers daughter??? Picking up a woman is the easy part - the next thing is "Ok I got her now what the fuck do I do with her". So if youre looking to be more than a surrogate father to this 19 year old, ask yourself how do you intend to keep her happy? What are you gonna do to entertain and amuse her so as to keep her interest? Sitting around watching the history channel, discussing politics, and mending tack probably aint gonna do the trick unless by some fluke you pick up Laura Ingalls Wilder...

They can be picked up, but ya have to be able to converse with them - about the "important shit" like MTV and Britney Spears mental breakdowm, and who Paris is dating and how wihether or not her and Nicole are gonna become friends again because of it... Whats in your DVD collection - got the Sex In The City box sets? How about Talledega Nights and Borat? Do you have tampons under your bathroom sink and in your glove compartment? What do ya know about Yaz? Know where to score herb? Got any green tea in teh house? Whats a Rasberry Frappuchino?

See jlf., just like buying a boat or a horse there is a lot to learn and a lot of lingo to memorize and a lot of accessories to buy before youre ready to play.... If you speak the lingo and make the right invite and present the right bait - you too can pick up little blonde Walgreens girls... Its not how old you are chronologically its how young you are at heart...

It sounds to me like you want a young, hot piece of ass and the whole "want to have a child around riding a horse" is just BS. What do you have in common with a lady in her late teens/early 20s that is sustainable in any romantic fashion? If you want so bad to have youth and smiles on your property, volunteer your time and bring underprivledged children or teens to your ranch or whatever and let them spend time with your animals. At least you will be turning that lonliness around into something positive.

I remember being in my 20s and being continually grossed out and often offended by older kinky people who would come onto me and then be all bent out of shape when my response was "ewww...you are like...40!"  Now I am almost 40, and I don't intend to get bitter and bent out of shape that youth see me as *old*.   You are as old as you feel.  I think if anything your *attitude* is old. What do old people do?  They complain, they bitch and moan, "things ain't like they used to be" and "youth today, they don't get it!" and "when I was your age...blah blah"  I mean I am 40 and I can STILL remember saying and feeling that.  My goal is to be a young, fun, hip 40 year old. I may not be as *sexy* as those 18 year old chickies who the guys in their 20s are staring at, but I am not going to be resentful about it.

You can adopt a joyous, youthful attitude *for your age* or you can make the best of your life by filling it with laughter and joy in other ways.  You will not be able to *relate* to a lady in her early 20s - nor will you be able to be what she is attracted to.  That's just the way it is.

Are you picking up the 19-22 crowd or the 16-18 crowd? LOL Seriously, I didn't have interest in about 90% of that stuff after I turned 18 and left home ... I guess it is possible that I am a complete fluke. Though, you make a good point ... Even if I am a fluke, I wouldn't be interested in being a "ranch hand" by day and slut by night.

LOL Twilight, in the Bay area of Houston they arent too sophisticated... However, my point was that its not all BDSM. Hes not gonna be able to take his subbie / slave to the PTA meeting in a teddy on a leash LOL A lot of guys forget that a BDSM relationship is first and foremost a relationship and that it takes two to make it work  and that you need to have something to talk about beyond "on your knees and serve me"... Ok you dont have an interest in 90% of that stuff but if we were involved or exploring some potential involvement - we would at least have 10% while I learned some more of your interests and you learned some of mine... The idea of having a young beauty (such as yourself) around is any mans fantasy - but to make it a reality requires effort and the willingness to learn and adapt

It is not that I have a problem relating to younger women, but more appropriately, it never fails that I am always good enough to go to for advice, but not as dating material.

You're relating to younger women but not as dating material. You're relating to them (us) as a father. (Daddy really doesn't work for me because I often call the men that I date "Daddy" ...)

quote:

ORIGINAL: jlf1961
The young lady that I mentioned has a nasty habit of calling me two and three times a week and asking advice, about guys, cars, etc.

Now, I have always believed in being available for people who wish to ask me for help, but perhaps this is one instance where I probably should change tactics, or at least put an end to the 'daddy' type phone calls.

Tonight was a good example, she called me and asked if I could give her a ride home, seems her date dumped her and took off.   I made a call and got her a ride, and then she called and complained about the fact I wasnt the one that gave her the ride!

Now by the same token, there is a neighbor girl that comes over all the time asking about what to do about various problems she is having with her horse, a mare that seems to be prone to uterus infections, every time she comes into season.

You look like a "father" and you talk like a "father" so us youngsters are gonna see you as a father. Also, like a father, you bailed her little butt out when her date dumped her. (But you didn't pick her up yourself, which kind of blows your opportunity to play the Knight in Shining Armor.) Thats not sexy. It kinda makes you think ... Wow, he's JUST like my dad!

quote:

ORIGINAL: jlf1961
The primary reason I am looking for someone younger is because I have actually thought it might be nice to have kids around the house again.

While many younger women -want- children, we don't want to be seen as "breeders" ... I broke up with a man for that exact reason. He saw me as a young, fertile female who could provide him with some babies and while he may have seen more than that in me, eventually that seemed to be the focus of our relationship.

And frankly, as a young woman who does want a family, I want my children to have a father that will be around to see them grow up but also be able to do stuff with them. My father was 50 years old when I was born. He couldn't really do a whole lot with me and he died just as I becoming a teenager. It really messed me up for a long time.

That was five years ago. You were five years younger. Once you reach a certain age, 5 years is A LOT.

Funny, I never thought of women as 'breeders,' and fail to find the thought even partially amusing.   I have thought long and hard about an old fashioned family life, not like mom and dad, (dad was NOT a good role model) but more like my grandmother and grandfather.

He was the boss, except in the kitchen, and that was what worked for them.

I already volunteer my time at a local group home teaching roping and western riding, as well as how to maintain tack.  It was that volunteer work that actually got me to thinking about being a dad again.  Granted, I may end up with the same problem I have with my son who THINKS he knows it all, but that is okay.

DA, as far as acting like a 47 year old juvenile delinquent, would getting up at 5 am and playing reveille load enough to wake the folks in the cemetery qualify?  I mean granted, this is usually in response to the neighbors keeping the dogs stirred up all night with driving in and out, not to mention the occasional blast from a civil war replica 3 band enfield with 50grains of black powder fire off in the morning just after the bugle call and my raising the flag....  (I have yet to raise the money to purchase a full sized working napoleon field piece from dixie gun works.  I have, however, designed the perfect bovine produced fertilizer delivery round.....)

As for the vanilla life outside of the house, no problem, since it never was an issue in the past.

I would really like to find a young woman who wants a family, that I can teach some stuff that I learned when I was a kid, so that the skills arent lost.  Too many people want to fast break a horse, or use prefab horse shoes, or buy a factory made saddle.  Trying to teach that at the group home is a bit difficult since the kids are constantly going or coming in.

I just figure that by having the chance to pass on those skills, to someone that wants to learn, would be much better than letting them die, and unfortunately, a lot of those skills are dieing.

But then, maybe I am a dreamer......

JLF, no playing reville at 5am is fucking whacked and I havent dealt with it since OCS. You know once I got the butter bars, 5 am was the time to crawl home and start huffing oxygen so as to be semi capable to fly at 9am LOL  I dont think that would impress a young woman very much but lets see what Twilight thinks of it? Breakfast in bed, and watching cartoons or Reville and Cannon Fire - whats your preference Twilight? See jlf the young ladies I know would rather sleep in LOL. Bugle call and raising the flag? Not since Pensacola LOL. Shit, Im the infamous guy who boarded CV-61 with no pants and asked for "Permission to cross the patio" ....

As for passing on the farrier or saddlemaking skills thats admirable but why do you need a young woman for that? Those skills could be taught to an apprentice of any age or gender. You dont have to breed your own sucessor to pass on a trade.  Theres no guarantee you will, theres no telling if a kid I father will ever fly. I will certainly introduce him or her but they may want to be a heavy metal drummer or a fashion designer....

Its a military bugle call done at an ungodly hour of the morning... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGnZxcS7VKA Something I have not experienced since leaving officer candidate school... Watch the video twilight - would you kill the man who woke you up that way each morning at 5am , followed by flag raising and cannon fire? LOL If I did that the women I date would pull my dick off and beat me to death with it jlf LOL

Yes, you may be.  I still don't get the fascination with the younger chicks.  Find someone your own age and adopt couple of the older kids who are in foster care and waiting for someone who has the time and patience to love and nurture them.  Age catches up with all of us, and unless you have something really sexy and special to offer outside of saddle making and horse shoes, you're going to have young girls using you as a father figure rather than a Daddy Dom.  And I wouldn't blame them one bit!  Sorry, but it looks like that 20yo piece of tail may remain out of your reach.

And think about this - while you're bemoaning the fact that you want these young ones but they won't have you, the ones who are at the higher end of your preferred range aren't going to be thinking too kindly of you and wanting to fall to their knees at your feet.
