ORIGINAL: jlf1961 Has anyone but me noticed that the younger generations seem to have put a permanent label on men older than 35? Not only on CM, but in the real world. The label being loser, at least if you are not pulling down a six figure income. I find it funny because right now, I am better off than my father was at the same age. I have enjoyed my life and see nothing lacking in it, except perhaps my inability to deal with vanilla relationships. I guess it really shouldnt surprise me, considering that any wisdom the older generation may have accumulated over a lifetime is neither wanted or heeded by the younger people today. However, in closing, I would not refer to anyone who has managed to live through 40+ years of back breaking work, has a home without a mortgage, friends, and has managed to do so without losing his sense of ethics. JLF, women no matter their age are attracted to a confident and compassionate man and a good sense of humor *certainly* helps too! I'm 57 so I have 10 years on you but I don't look it as I try to take care of myself. Guys like D.A. and me don't worry ourselves about what a woman may "think" of us as if we could devine what another is thinking about. If a woman is looking only at a man's income you don't want them anyway! We call them "gold diggers." Really, do you think you'd be happy with a woman who looked at you only because of your income? I was in the Navy during Vietnam and learned pretty quickly after getting out to keep my mouth shut about it to avoid blank stares and silence. I was sent the other way to the Med, on a Fleet Oiler refueling Carriers, Cruisers and Destroyers even though I volunteered to go to Vietnam. One of my duties as a "Quartermaster" was to steer the ship while we were 100-150 feet away from an Air Craft Carrier alongside of us taking on fuel and "Av Gas" at about 12 knots. On the other side there'd be a Cruiser or Destroyer. It could get pretty hairy. We were "Expert Helmsmen." It wasn't too "cool" back in the day but many more people respect veterans today. Vietnam was an extremely unpopular war. As for myself I find that many younger woman are attracted to older guys. Maybe it's the life experience or just the confidence we exude. One thing you shouldn't do is to pre-suppose what a woman is thinking! Does *any* man "know" what a woman is thinking? Maybe we should ship your ass up to the Houston area to visit D.A. for a few days, he's got "confidence" to spare! He'll get your ass squared away!
