ORIGINAL: Lockit You wanted someone to address this and brought it as a challenge. It seems you may have a good argument here. But one thing comes to my mind as one who care's for someone a lil whacked out because he lacked oxygen. If he had been damaged in a car, I wouldn't be sitting here looking at him, seeing the face I so love, seeing his youth and what a waste it all has been and thinking... he did this to himself. He purposly did this and ruined his life and now mine. Sometimes it isn't just a fact that we can be injured or killed in life... it is how it happens and the effects on everyone that loves us. There is a bigger picture here and if you can't see it... fine... enjoy... I hope I never have to meet you in some hospital research for brain damaged persons. quote:

ORIGINAL: CallaFirestormBW The other thing that was relevant was that it didn't matter how many times someone had survived anoxic episodes before -- every single episode could be a killer. I understand that traveling in an automobile puts you in roughly the same situation. Edited for spelling, dammit. I truly do not mean to belittle your situation but he (or anyone) could easily have been the cause of their own accident, driving too fast or in a dangerous way. If you act in an irresponsible manner with dangerous or even semi-dangerous situations or items you can get hurt. Sure no one HAS to use breathplay. No one HAS to bunji jump or skydive (except paratroopers) or film sharks, or deep sea dive. No one has to ride roller coasters or jump 21 school busses full of atomic weapons. Yet Humans do these things, often without thinking of the people they might leave behind. That too is a Human thing. We can be reckless with our bodies and the ones we love. Maybe it is not fair but it is I think fundamental to what we are. My grandmother smoked herself to death and I had to watch her essentially go insane from oxygen depravation. I asked her to stop smoking, said my peace, and because she was an adult and could make her own decisions I left it at that. When she could not take care of herself we took care of her because we loved her. That is also something Humans do, love even other idiot Humans. We are there for one another even when someone is doing something stupid or dangerous. People do not have to do Breath Play. I choose to participate in it and do so as responsibly as I can because I am Human and playing it safe is not in my genetic code.
