agirl mentioned Katherine in the Taming of the Shrew, but then you'd KNOW I'd have to like her.

littleone35 pointed out Maureen O'Hara which dovetails my suggestion of John Wayne in the doms discussion.

I thought about the wife in the French film Submission and O, of course, but I like a little more teeth in my subs.

I liked some of the female characters in John Norman's Gor series.

Characters in Thalia Leigh novels have sass and spice until they get spanked into their place.

I think I'd like CorsetMinx's mermaid.

i thought we weren't spozed to name names or i mighta' posted some of the juicy ones. Ask one of the Mistresses for her unread mail for some real winners (or is that whiners?). Some states seem richer in fiction than others, but peek around your own state and see what people have actually written!
