I'm pretty sure it was at MOSI last year, hon.. *sigh*

I did get to see a space exhibition.... touched a moon rock or something that was on display, which was cool.. but I would have REALLY liked to see the 'BODIES' show

I want animatronics installed in my corpse pre-funeral. This way I can recruit one of my friends as a confederate in the will, and have them remote control wave my hand during the funeral, make me climb out of the casket, and start advancing on my loved ones moaning BRAAAIINNSSSS. I'm fairly certain my corpse will be promptly shot, several times, however I have faith they'll appreciate the humor later.

I saw the plastination exhibit when it was at the Museum of Science and Industry (Chicago) in 2006. Fascinating!

As far as fumes and cremation, is it the fuel used that releases the toxic fumes?? I can't imagine an unenbalmed body releasing fumes. In IL, if the body isn't cremated within 24 hours, it must be enbalmed.

My Grandma had the right idea... cremated, and then shot off in fireworks over her childhood home.

It is my recollection from when my dad died that if you want to be buried at sea you still need to get cremated first (they don't just dump your body in the ocean). And if you get cremated and want your ashes spread somewhere, you need to get a permit to do so (although I'm sure many families take the ashes and do what they want with them on their own).

We had my dad's ashes flown over the Pacific just outside the Golden Gate. We stood on the edge of a cliff at Point Bonita at the Marin Headlands and watched him fall to the ocean in a black cloud spewing from the plane. It was really amazing. And that area is just so beautiful. I decided that's where I want to go, too. It was extra $$ to actually schedule a coordinated time with the pilot, so that would be up to others if they wanted to witness it. Otherwise the pilot would just do it whenever, on his regular run (in this case the pilot was making several "drops" that day). It was cool though, because the pilot called my cell as he was flying over and told us exactly when it would happen. It was a really intimate moment for our family.

Since I grew up playing in the Pacific, I'd love to end up in it.

I want all usable organs and tissues removed after my death and donated to anyone for whom they may make a difference. After that, I want to be cremated. I haven't decided what I want done with my ashes yet.

i am of the cremation after donation line of thinkers. i have spent most of my life caring for the sick and injured, and organ donation would be one last time that i could help someone.

My ashes will hopefull be placed in places that are special to me: my favorite woods, the beach, along a certain winding road in town, near a special horse farm. i love the idea of my children taking some and placing them in windchimes as well....

Since I don't think any of my organs are usable for transplant, I want my body donated to a teaching hospital as a "practice" cadaver. If they don't want it, then I think becoming fish food in the ocean is a good alternative.

If my offspring want a grave to visit, I've told them they need to install a motion-activated recording with about 5 different sayings... One to say "Hey up there! What DO you say to the Devil when he sneezes?" or "Excuse me, but I can see up your dress" A variety of smart-ass remarks so I can annoy people long after I'm dead. :)

I grew up on a lake. Next door was a woman who, every morning would go have coffee and read the paper near the shore. She'd drink half the cup and dump the rest into the water. Turns out, she was just continuing a practice she and her husband had had before his death. When he died, she spread his ashes on the water outside her home. So, every morning, she and her husband had coffee together. When she would get angry at his passing, there she'd be at the end of her dock, yelling and swearing at the water. To her, he never really left.

My dad wants a 'viking funeral.' He says, "just put me in my duck boat, string the decoys out behind them, and set fire to the whole thing. Push it out into the lake and I'll have me a viking funeral." Mom's lived on the water her entire married life but deep down, is afraid of the water. For her, it's a hill with a tree and a BUNCH of flowers all around - she loves her garden.

Me? Donate, then cremate, but please please, don't keep the urn...that's just creepy to me. If you're going to keep me on the shelf, at least go ahead and make it pretty - I'll take the lifegem idea.. "and this is mom...." - it's got to be better than some dirty stinky old ashes. Ooh, I know!! lifegem and then, put me on a string and toss me in with the Christmas stuff (it's my favorite holiday). Hang me on the christmas tree and I'll be able to enjoy Christmas with the family forever - or at least till they lose me (like we do at least one ornament every year somehow.)

my mother got me into the idea of cremation (since that's what she's doing if and when it's her time to die) however the metal collar, my ankle chains and ring (things Daddy gave me) i want buried in the family plot with a small plaque.

my ashes - i want scattered in the Indian Ocean on my birthdate (if i should before or after my last one).

as for Daddy, i really don't know for sure but i guess it will be cremation as well since He's a Buddhist.
