My Dad passed about 2.5 yrs ago. His email addy is still in my yahoo address book. When I go to email certain family members, his addy pops up. I *still* get startled by it...
I would certainly be totally freaked if my stepmom emailed me from that addy (she's so NOT a computer person, that it hasnt ever happened, nor do I expect it to..LOL)

I want my skeleton cleaned, articulated, and hanging in a classroom somewhere. I would especially love it if the kids put a hawaiian shirt and goofy hat on me. I feel very lucky that I had the advantage of learning biology from a very early age - and part of that was from the skeleton we called Solomon Grundy that hung in our classroom from grades 2-6. Someone had donated their body to science and that's how we got him. Frenchy and I have advance directives on file and that is what mine asks. Frenchy just wants to be cremated. Since he's decrepit and half-dead as it is, I imagine I will be in a position to scatter him somewhere - I am sure his very good friends will help me figure out a fitting place, like the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto or maybe where Les Paul built his first guitar, some where CBGBs used to be, some on Sunset Blvd...hmmmmmmm.

Donate what parts are still usable, give the rest to science...

I agree with the shaving, there has to be a stipulation somewhere that says I need to be shaved and trimmed, legs too!

but there are so many reasons people wait years for their organ...

it is a popular misnomer that just because you die your organs are suited for transplant. You would have to be either on life support or have the organs harvested as soon as the heart stops. Once the heart stops, the organs are no longer supplied with oxygen and they die.
The above reason is another reason people refuse to donate. There is a fear that they will be allowed to die (ie no measures to save them) just so their organs can be harvested. It simply does not happen, but the fear is there.

I got to thinking about what if I was murdered, and the choice of my body disposal kept people from being able to confirm cause of death.

my suggestion is to go to the national transplant organization and they will be able to give u information on the subject about transplants
