200,000...or 20,000? Obama's Crowd in Berlin

Hmmm.....maybe's he's not such a rock star after all.....(other than being fashionably late to his own concert, of course).

I wonder who did that pretty painting blue, that hung behind mercal when greeting obama.    tasteful and less guady then a flag.

slvemike4u -> RE: 200,000...or 20,000? Obama's Crowd in Berlin (7/26/2008 7:27:38 PM)

Don't see the point here,since he isn't a rock star and we are not talking about how large a paying audience he drew...it would seem moot.The actual number of German citizens that showed up to hear him ,speaks more to their interest, than his candidacy

bipolarber -> RE: 200,000...or 20,000? Obama's Crowd in Berlin (7/26/2008 7:28:04 PM)

I remember the republicans trying to knock the numbers for the Gay march on Washington back in 1992... Seems this is a tactic they fall back on often. A shit load of people show up, and they lie through their ass, trying to marginalize the attendance. Doesn't matter if it's not true, they've put the lie out there for a couple of news cycles, and that's all anyone remembers.

How fucking "1984" can you get?

Pathetic bastards.

SilverWulf -> RE: 200,000...or 20,000? Obama's Crowd in Berlin (7/26/2008 7:29:45 PM)

The image in that link speaks for itself, 200,000?

No way.

Thadius -> RE: 200,000...or 20,000? Obama's Crowd in Berlin (7/26/2008 7:31:45 PM)

I honestly could care less if there were 2k,  20k,  200k, or 2 million... there was a definite buzz.  The numbers don't reflect support or opposition, just a curiosity in hearing a speech by a charismatic man.

celticlord2112 -> RE: 200,000...or 20,000? Obama's Crowd in Berlin (7/26/2008 7:32:54 PM)

Unless the German news media are in error, it is the Obamaniacs who are engaged in deception here.

slvemike4u -> RE: 200,000...or 20,000? Obama's Crowd in Berlin (7/26/2008 7:39:43 PM)

And again I am missing the point...these aren't voters so the numbers that showed up are not indicative of anything other than the interest level of German citizens....unless their registered voters..I have to agree with Thadius,I could care less...

pahunkboy -> RE: 200,000...or 20,000? Obama's Crowd in Berlin (7/26/2008 7:41:16 PM)

dont worry the  blank cant win.

you are safe. mccain will "win".   murdock and others are not going to part with a tax increase... or even a expiration of tax cuts.  even tho these same people make money off of the spending that ran up a national debt.

they want free markets- so we deregulate- then the housing collapses - so we the tax payer bail out fannie me, freddy mac, this afer bear stearn, and enron.

even if it never happens again... they got the goods- so we hold the bag,

Frankly I dont "get" how some here on either side doesnt realize that they are pawns in it all.  "they" are not the least bit interested in YOU- your kin- your well being or even you functioning to put a decent roof over your head.  Nor do "they" owe any allegience to America.  They dont.    They expect our military to protrect their assets which in many cases were taken-co-erced- stolen from  its right ful owners.   Then they dont want to pay for the military.[protection]

Dont you get it?

Crowds of this size are estimated by an overflight, the aireal photo is used much the same way you "guess the jelly beans in the jar" method. Average crowd density, area of coverage... Also, it was the German officials who supplied the numbers... maybe, since it seems to be a point of obsession with you CL, you can look it up on their websites...

All I know is, Obama was speaking to a hell of a lot more people than McCain did in either the Waffle House, or in the grocery store... hell, from the looks of it, he was speaking to more people than McCain has had show at all of his events combined...
and he's got the stadium reserved in Denver for the Dems convention next month, and the Denver officials are worred about overflow...

Or...perhaps....the Obama hype is starting to fade and people everywhere are realizing this man has fancy words and a pleasing tone but absolutely nothing else to recommend him.

He is at least an entertaining jester.  I will give him that much.

slvemike4u -> RE: 200,000...or 20,000? Obama's Crowd in Berlin (7/26/2008 8:07:11 PM)

An entertaining jester?....You sure spend an inordinate amount of time trying to punch holes in this "jester's" candidacy

sub4hire -> RE: 200,000...or 20,000? Obama's Crowd in Berlin (7/26/2008 8:13:00 PM)

Actually there was a rock concert being held where Obama was speaking.  He didn't draw near the crowds the media was trying to convey that he did.

You hold speeches at concerts that normally bring in thousands upon thousands...well then that many people are going to be there.

Aha! I was starting to think I was alone in noticing this. How many Obamania threads have you committed now, celticlord? Twenty? Thirty?

So, Barack "only" being able to draw more people than McCain, or any other living politician ever could in a country he's not even running in  (Some number between 20,000 and 200,000, who cares.) is a sign of people giving up on him, huh?  And which overseas trip by a presidential candidate are we comparing this to?
