Ohhhhh...when I am not working on the Ladybug (restarted that one...I fudged it up badly) I am playing with the emperor purple.  I was planning to make it onto a shawl, but the silky feel is telling me to make it into a baby blanket.  When Mom is gone, I will order one more bag of it so I can make it into a layette set.  Tough decision...new cottony bra or a bag of Bamboo...I know I need some Softee by Barnet, the white and blue marble for a special afghan, add the black super saver...I will be sit up fine.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/30/2010 3:59:00 PM)

I have to make a little baby thing for a friend's daughter... I have the pattern in Designer One Skein Wonders, but the YARN..another story! I think the original is wool or some damn thing, like you would put WOOL on a baby in SUMMER duh.

Do you have Ace/Aco hardware in Texas? They have been selling big balls of Bernat for afghans and such, nice worsted weight, for a good price.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/30/2010 4:14:51 PM)

No Ace here, but I am planning to raid the hardware store tomorrow to get some storage bins.

We are getting up early in the morning to get our shopping done since we are getting steamy here (read: HOTTER THAN HELL).  Mom did said that the hardware store is a TrueValue. So who knows...

catch up with me on Holly and Potty thread...

MistressHolly71 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/30/2010 4:54:20 PM)

I wish the Ace hardware near me sold yarn. Maybe it's just certain ones?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/30/2010 4:59:37 PM)

I am not sure, our local Ace and Aco have started selling the most BIZARRE array of things, the big ACE is like a general store that you could leave a paycheck in there is such variety. The yarn is in a display box, I think in eight ounce skeins, in solid and ombres. I was all virtuous and RETURNED what I impulse-bought. They had the Holiday Homespuns from Lion Brand too, during the holiday times. No patterns or hooks, just the yarn.

Do the discount yarn web stores carry Lily Sugar 'n Cream 100% cotton?  i bought some at Michael's in New Jersey.  There is no Michael's near me and WalMart carries a different brand.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/31/2010 8:15:07 AM)

A lot of them do, Fluffy, but I would Google sugar n cream and see where it takes you because you never KNOW which will have what you want. You will be led astray into bad places, but you can handle it!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (7/31/2010 9:10:38 AM)

I went crazy at Walmart again.  I grab the last of the white Softee and about 6-9 Spearmint candy by Bernat  I am so weak when it comes to clearance yarns...

this is why I am to NEVER buy yarn when Herrschners has their yarn sale...

Speaking of which...I need to order more blue marble yarn from Bernat...I am downsizing from an N hook to a G hook and using Softee yarn instead of chunky...

Its hard adjusting my fingers to the range of yarns.

I know that Lilly is a part of Bernat.  Here is the URL for Bernat.

Now...I got to get this ladybug figured out...and get my heart monitor on...

For Lily... http://www.sugarandcream.com/

I was finally able to read the fine print...I love electron microscopes...

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (8/1/2010 8:17:14 AM)

Got the ladybug figured out...there is a mistake in the directions.  How do I contact the publishers about this?

DBNY is teasing me...again....HELP!!!

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (8/1/2010 7:30:08 PM)

That is so cute...

I just placed an order with Herrschners.  My two aunts on Mom's side of the family (her sisters) are getting afghans done up by me.

I need caffeine bad...and cereal...

Lizard wants to be a "hooker" these days.  I plan to teach her and I got a booklet of Crochet Basics that she can deal with.  I can pick up the thing of "I learn to Crochet" from Walmart down in Austin (while shopping for school supplies...)

Now...to the cereal I will go...

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (8/4/2010 6:59:16 AM)

I am still working on the Ladybug afghan.  Hopefully I can get it done to put on the legs, eyes, spots, antenna and mouth today (the other stuff can wait, finish the big part is what I want to do).

I need to read over the penguin afghan, then get started on it.

Funny how it does here...each project has different yarns,especially in weights and makers.

Ron, that is one mixed up song...I think that whoever put it on Youtube needs to get their hearing checked (wrong pitches, sounds from med to super fast).  But the title is perfect...LOL!

mnottertail -> RE: Needles and Hooks (8/4/2010 7:13:17 AM)

Oh, that was a big song in the day. And typical musically, after such luminaries as Dave Clark 5, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Peter and Gordon, Chad and Jeremy and the like.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (8/4/2010 11:16:32 AM)

I spent monies at Rapunzel's but the lace weight was on sale! The costly skein of seqinned stuff was just me swept by the beauty. Got some vintage velveen on ebay too. Sigh. There is no hope for this addiction.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (8/4/2010 2:48:52 PM)

Did not get to work on the Ladybug today...had the nieces over, destroying the trailer.

Mom and baby bro just left me, leaving the truck in my hands.  It is too big for my taste to drive anyway...[;)]

Got a new book in today.  Mom wants me to do up a few afghans now.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (8/4/2010 5:31:03 PM)

This afternoon i went to the knitting group at church.  It was fun to see the different projects each of us were making.  There are different skill levels and there is always someone who can answer questions.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (8/4/2010 5:55:53 PM)

Fluffy, check on Facebook for groups as well.  I keep up with Lizard that way.  I got 2 or 3 groups on crocheting on my account.
