Ha! I just started making Jayne Cobb's hat from Firefly.

Dnomyar -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/10/2010 1:55:48 PM)

MMmmm never had a woman ask me to come warp her loom. Is that a good thing or bad thing. Then again with LH it won't matter.

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/10/2010 3:31:59 PM)

Oh wow I made a Jayne hat for one of my friends! It turned out great, I used lamb's pride and blended the colors.

The hoodie needs side seams and the hood attached then it's the zipper decision...zipper or just a hook and eye at the top?

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/10/2010 3:54:03 PM)

i knitted some basketweave washcloths on the bus trip.  i did 2 at a time on circular needles.  i think i'll try 3 at a time next.  Altogether i need to do 10 or more.  The pattern is here
i'm using Lily's Green Twists cotton.  They will be part of a Christmas present that i have planned for my family.

The basketweave pattern is so cool.  Made to Austin yet?

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/11/2010 9:19:43 AM)

Yes, i'm in Austin now.

i like the way the washcloths came out, so i am making a hand towel with the same yarn.  The neat thing about visiting is that i can find out the color and decor style of the bathrooms and kitchen...i'm sneaky that way.

I think the good thing about the Jayne hat is that it doesn't have to perfect, as I recall is a little lopsided to begin with. I love it!
Fluffy, that basket weave is gorgeous!

Excellent washcloth!

The hoodie just needs the hood sewn on. We'll be going with the hook and eye fastening.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/11/2010 9:45:23 PM)

i'm thinking of knitting this hoodie for my youngest grand.

That is supercute!! I have this thing for hoodies, I can't explain it.

These two came in today.  I have to finish sewing the Ladybug and granny squares, and working on the special afghan, the butterflies  and the penguin.

i don't think I got too many projects, do I?

There is no such thing as Too Many Projects. There is only Not Enough Storage Space. [;)]

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/12/2010 3:45:58 PM)

It seems like i am doing a lot in cotton right now.  So what is the best cotton to work with?  100% cotton, cotton&acrylic, recycled cotton, or organic cotton.  The colors are limited on the organic cotton since they don't use dyes.  Would you make clothing out of the organic cotton or just eco bags and kitchen accessories?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/12/2010 8:18:59 PM)

I would definitely make clothes from the organic. I love that sage green color, and the clay color. Amazing that the cotton grows that way. The recycled gets pilled fast, I am not partial to it.

I tried a ball of that yarn that has the big poms... SO not for me! I have to have the poms all neatly lined up, and it is very time consuming, at least with the oval poms on Plymouth Poppin. I used it feom the outside of the skein so it is going in for exchange!!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/13/2010 2:38:46 PM)

I cannot stand eyelash and fuzzy yarns. Give me worsted weight and threads (sport, dk and thread).

I hate those types of yarn as well.  The crochet stitches seem to get all knotted up and are impossible to pull out if I made a mistake.  The yarn gets all tangled up while I'm working, too.

I love those soft, smooth worsted bamboo yarns.  Makes nice sweaters for toddlers and kids.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/13/2010 2:51:17 PM)

I got a bag of Bam Boo Emperor Purple in the bedroom. Very silky feel. Still cannot decide which project to work on for it...LOL!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/13/2010 4:13:06 PM)

OKAY!!! I had Mom 'yell' at me for not doing the granny squares and ladybug yet. Guess I will be offline for a while. [:(]

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/13/2010 6:27:16 PM)

I checked the preview page for the DBNY Labor Day sale and dayyyyyyum those prices are HIGH!!! Fifty bucks for a hank of Oceania, when I just got some for Thirty three!! Think NOT, and yay that I got a nice color to play with.

This is good, that I am Safe From New Yarn. For now, anyway!

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hookers (8/15/2010 6:42:18 AM)

ACK!!!  I skipped a stitch on the special afghan so I had to unravel it to the skipped area and make things straight.
