ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/11/2010 2:05:55 PM)

My nephew, if not one of the girls.  One of my nieces has developed an obsession with penguins while the other niece got a thing going with the ladybugs.

After this I have to finish up the ladybug, add more scallops to B's afghan and get started on Aunt M blanket.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/11/2010 4:42:26 PM)

i finally got one of those rullers with holes in it to size my knitting needles.  The circular needles and double pointed needles aren't marked.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/12/2010 1:00:12 PM)

I got my afghan hooks in today.  Mom is letting me finish the important projects first (yea!).

I also got an 18x18 size pillow.  Mom did look at me strange until I mention the butterflies needs a companion pillow with the scrap yarn left over.

Now, I need a caddy near the computer desk to hold the hooks and patterns (don't forget the music stand).

SorceressJ -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/12/2010 1:04:14 PM)

I admit that this is not the 'I Admit' thread, but I also admit that I have never knitted anything in my life, and that I have not attempted to crochet something since the year my oldest son was born. I have a grandum now, though, so I would love to (re)learn..

There are several videos available on Lionbrand that might help you.

Learn to Crochet

Learn to Knit

You can pick up the "I learn how to crochet" in the yarn department at Walmart.  It does come with a dvd, along with hooks, needles, row markers and whatever else that is needed.  It cost me $10.

NO!!!!!

Mom is using twill patch on to repair a store quilt.  She swears it is homemade.  I am not picking any fights with her.

She washed it and has it on the back porch (the one not included in the decking project.).

I am all hot to have the Namaste "hip holster" bag. Yeah, like I need another BAG. Sheesh. The closest LYS doesn't have it, and I am reluctant to order it. I might though! I used my garage sale certificate for some retail therapy in the form of laceweight blue alpaca, and a hairpin crochet frame thingy! I saw an article on hairpin crochet in a vogue knitting.... and I have SO MUCH ribbon yarn that needs to have a final form, the hairpin lace seemed like a good idea.

I had to find a blanket/afghan for little J and I just happen to find it on CPC.  All boys like camo...right?  I found the afghan using 3 or 4 different blocks (as right of different camos).  This means that I can put off the granny square project until after Xmas.

I am glad I decided not to go to school.  This year has been a busy one for me, traveling, an anime con, several craft items coming in, winning First Place at the county fair and attack of the cavities.  not to mention medical stuffies.

LadyDragonMist -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/12/2010 9:08:10 PM)

I knit during 2 of my 4 classes. I won't knit in bio lab because of the mess or math because taking notes. If I don't knit during bio or history, my professors ask what's wrong. I also have several classmates asking me to teach them to knit.

I added links to my sig. Ravelry has more pictures than my blog because my family isn't on there so I don't have to worry about spoilers.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/14/2010 5:31:05 PM)

Been in Tyler most of the day, being subject to a sadist doctor.  Did not take my work with me.  As soon as we got home, collapsed into the bed and got back up at 5:00pm.  Even found the lost bottle of meds in the van.

I will work on the penguin, lady bug and Auntie B's afghan tomorrow.  Just lurk and relax for a bit (not counting the pile of M&Ms in front of me).

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/15/2010 2:31:25 AM)

It is 42 degrees outside and I am cold now.  I want to turn on the heater. but mom will object and wants to hit one garage sale before leaving for SE Arkansas.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/15/2010 6:05:09 PM)

Just too tired to play today.  Remind me why I subject myself to the medical community.

It's bad that you remember that you have a certain pattern.

It's worst if you made a pdf of it.

It's evil that you actually remember the pdf files' number

Its' divine when I share the pattern...

I am having Handpaint Disgruntlement. I am doing the alpaca cardi in "winterberry" colourway by Cherry Tree Hill, and halfway into it, it's blotching in a DEEPLY irritating manner, even though I am knitting from alternate hanks. I tried skipping to the next color to see if it fixed it, but NOOOOOO. Hmph. Not sure if I will rip back or what.

Love the cardi otherwise, it's short sleeved, and wll be ideal for work. PLUS, it is a wonderful design, just the kind of thing I would design myself in terms of style and ease of construction.

fluffypet61 -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/17/2010 11:30:51 AM)

i tried to figure out what to do with my left over eyelash yarn.  So i went to the Lion Brand web site and searched for things that take 1 1/2 balls of Lion Breand fun fur, which is eyelash yarn.  Well, it turns out that you can make a scarf.  Just cast on 24 stitches using 10.5 needles and knit every row,  It make s a nice boa that the kids can use when they play dreee-up.

One of the girl grand ums is going to get a red fuzzy boa for Christmas.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/17/2010 9:41:37 PM)

Got the yarns for the camo throw today.  Redheart charges $4.29 for the skeins while Walmart charges $2.23...I am so happy that the ones I needed was in stock.

Now mom is fussing over the storage bins.  My closet is small and her bins are big...like 18+ gallon big.  I got the 10gallon which fits my closet just fine.

Just great...the puppies next door are loose....I am not going to wake my neighbors' just because the puppies are catting around.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/18/2010 5:23:48 AM)

Yet another thread dies because of me...

I think I am beating Jeff's record...

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/19/2010 4:38:40 AM)

The alpaca cardie is DONE! And, it looks good, though the front bands are kind of "soft". I am thinking of backing them with ribbon or something to give them some body.

ShaharThorne -> RE: Needles and Hooks (10/19/2010 8:41:15 PM)

I got some of the closet in the living room now.  The penguin, the camo afghan and the peace sign one is on the sofa.  I also got the yarn for making the butterfly pillow.

Mom is coming home tomorrow.  Got to get the place clean up.  That means the dishes done and hide the zingers.

This is my last chance to have cheesy tater tats.
